Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Forget recovery, compressor & vac have been hocked for drugs. I certainly hope you had insurance. Look at the good side. you will soon have a shiny new comp. & vac.

Friends that have been violated in that manner express a funny distrust and suspission following. Kinda like the process after a death or divorce. Hope you move through the steps smoothely.
Do you have insurance? Are you in one of those neighborhoods where bars on windows is in order? Alarms?
I had my sign kit stolen from my truck in 1970. Seems like I still look for it.

Hi Ron, Getting robbed is right up there with doing a great job and not getting paid. Just ain't fair. Insurance won't help unless its over your deductable. Kind of makes you wish they'd come in with a BIG truck and tale it ALL so you could make one big claim and go shopping for all new tools. Fires work well for this.
I did manage to catch one thief one time out of many incidents. That was rich. My brand new-in-the-box air jitterbug sander disappeared from my shop before I could even use it once. Neighbors told me they saw someone in my shop and knew who he was and where he worked. Boy did he look surprised when I rolled up with my huge biker friend "Dangerous Dave" as he was casually sanding the hood of a car in the alley outside his shop. Did I mention Dangerous Dave is was big? Well he was ugly too with chains and stuff. Without saying a word, Dave pointed at the guy with his left hand while reaching his right hand around his back and producing a rather serious looking lockback Buck. Snap, he flicked out the blade with his thumb. Gulp, this could get weird. As the guy stumbled backward, Dangerous Dave lunged forward and snatched the still buzzing sander with his left hand and with his right sliced through the rubber air hose which went spastic slapping around on the dusty asphalt. Then Dave pointed at the guy again, this time with the right hand that still held the Buck. They came to an non-verbal understanding you might say.
So if you can't afford a good alarm syatem and don't want the inconvenience of owning a pitt bull, locate the biggest, ugliest biker you can find and buy him a drink.

Joe.....sounds like the time a customer of mine didn't want to pay for the last 50% of his sign.(lucky I got a deposit) He couldn't speak English very well (so he claimed) and everytime I went in to collect the 500.00 he still owed for his wall sign, he said the 'boss' was not in. I called, made appointments to deal directly with the 'boss' but he was never in.This went on for over 2 months. I knew I was getting the run around. So I called my biggest meanest looking friend to go with me for a surprise visit to our little chinese man. My large friend asked to see the boss. Of course the 'boss' was not in. So we asked to call the boss...he was suppose to arrive in 15 minutes...well 15 quickly turned to 50..and my large friend was getting anxious. He started taking the foam letters and logo off the wall..while mr. chinese started shaking in his boots. My large friend asked him if HE was actually the 'boss' and he said yes.(gee we were so suprised) So then my friend took a ride in chinese mans car to the bank while I followed. He made him get cash. I don't like liars, and I don't like customers that don't want to pay. He loved his sign, and just wanted to get away with not paying. He got what he deserved. Oh thank goodness for big mean friends.

I know the feeling, Ron. Had a tree ladder stolen from my deerstand in the creekswamp about two seasons ago. I had bought the square tubing, welding rods, designed it and stayed up late at night welding it. Then some lowlife stole it.
It would serve him right if he fell out of his tree and broke both legs after hitting each rung on the way down!
Yeah, it kind of leaves a guy with a bad attitude. I'm just glad it wasn't something much worse like my wife or one of my kids.
People go through that kind of loss every day and it must be truly horrible. Sorry about your loss. I hope you get your things back.

Hey guys.......sorry, I have'nt been around for a bit.........My deductable is about the same cost as a claim, and, if you make the claim, you get put on high risk.......The cost that is'nt included is the business I sent to my competition. I am really tired of supplying(sp) the local riff-raff with my equipment........there was 15/20 break-in's that night........same M/O.......they kick in the bottom panel of your garage door..leaving a 12x12 approx opening...open the door and help themselves.....the police told me that most of this is hapening in daylight hours.......there is no solution I suppose..........Who said "carry a big stick" I am realy weary of all this nonsense.....
Ron

Hitest, I have an idea. Behind the lower panel of the garage door, run a strip of steel with 3" spikes every inch facing outward. Then let them kick away. Ouch!!
