I have recently been looking at softwares that different sign companys use. One of the softwares that some use is called SignLab. I don't know anything about it other than what there website says.
What are some peoples opinions out there on this software package?

Well Jeff

Each program is to what you want it to do!

SignLab is a Great Program in itself..
I use it for Vinyl cuts, plus stencils for Airbrushing, Pattern maker, Etc!
Plus a Bitmap Template to use in other formats... PhotoShop/Corel/Macro-Media.

Friendly to use and easy to remember the Hot Keys as well as the short routes.

Been working with it for over 5 years with little or no problems!

Waiting for the new beta version that will give the ablitity to Print Ditigal to the Edge without the Composer management.

I have been using Signlab for nearly ten years, waaaay back to version 3. I also used 5, and now with some gracious help from the folks at cadlink, I have moved up to e6. Let me tell you this program ROCKS! With a few minor exceptions, it is pretty much perfect. I have had my conflicts in the past, but it has been smooth sailing for quite some time here. I love it!

Be sure to get at least the PRO version, for the color welds and the chisel effects if nothing else. Also, be sure to pick up the tutorial cd. That is a life saver!!!

SIGNLAB ROCKS!!!!

Signlab is a great program.

That said, if I were in the market for vinyl cutting software, I'd probably go the route of Corel Draw and a bridge program. Much cheaper and Corel is a much more versatile program than any Signmaking software.

Jeff,

I've had several different vinyl cutting programs.

I first got Signlab back in 1992. Currently, I'm using both Gerber's Omega and Cadlink's Signlab 6.1.

Each has its own pro's and con's.

SignLab is a very good program and has an excellent technical support team to back it up.

Thanks for the replys thus far. I actually got a phone call from CadLink about send a demo with the ability to show me the the Thermal Printing Module to it. Which will be great!
I am looking at this software for two reasons. One that I am looking for a software for my current employer who has me running a Cutter and an Edge. I have had some problem about so many different peices of software coming through here, I have to have quite a few cutting software packages that I have to bounce around in.
If I could get a software package to stop the bouncing, that would be a god send.
The second reason I am looking at software is that a friend of mine is about to start his own business and wants a package that can run almost everything, and anything eventually.
Thanks again for the replys though!

[Cool] What are some of the highlights and disadvantages of SignLab when compared to other programs?

Signlab is the only one I was able to learn ( with the help of the training CD by Rob Ivers) other than Casmate. And I tried and trashed several other programs.
I do not take to computer learning easily, it is worse than pulling teeth for me. Therefore the fact I am able to use it every day all day means it is "loser" friendly to the max. It is very versatile, I constantly find new things it can do, and you can pretty much understand enough to get things to work right away.
Support is excellent and prompt. Cadlink cares.
With the thermal module you can run the Edge. The thermal module is something I also am in the process of integrating into my operation and I am able to learn it, as well.
I don't know Omega for the Edge, but to a man/woman everyone I know who has run the Edge with Signlab vs. Omega says it is easier and more versatile with Signlab.
Hope this helps
