In the process of "protecting" us from spammers the MIRC Chat people have crippled their own channels...I have recieved more Spam than ever (Most of which is from the MIRC people themselves.
They tell me I am registered , that they have all my info, that they have my nick, my password and everything else it takes to partake of the Chat channel "Letterville" and it now takes me 30 to 45 minutes of screwing around with all the crap to get on...well they took the fun out of it for me...so I have a small message for them at MIRC.
"Shove it"...
-------------------- "Werks fer me...it'll werk fer you"
Hahahahaha Monte. feels good to say shove it huh? (ask me how I know) I used to get so ****ed off when I would try to get on mIRC. I don't even go there anymore.
sorry I laughed...but I got a chuckle outta you.

I have never bothered to register but just use that little green button that is on the purple side bar on the BB page. Once the MIRC window opens it is a simple matter of typing in a nick and getting to business.
I have had no trouble in the last few weeks I have poked in there for some conversation.
Maybe try that before you give up chatting with your friends.

Guys..it is quite easy if you read the instructions and follow them. All Webchat wants to do is verify your existance by e-mail. It took me all of 5 minutes to do what they requested and I am having no problems.

You know what? Monte is right about IRC Chat. It dates back to the days of dos and is very geeky at best. Especially for the new people in Letterville we all want to see chating.
Since 1995, we've tried 3 different chat servers. It's time we investigate an alternative to mirc chat. We've always dreamed of having our own chat program just for Letterville. It would need to have all the features of mirc, but be simple to use. The option to use webcams would be another great feature.
If you know of another chat option, we need to hear from you. It's time Letterville had it's own dedicated chat. Tell us how.

I subscribed to this for a couple hours until somebody pointed out that it's spyware. Spyware, apparently, is something that tracks your web visits, so I dumped it, and I'm not surprised at all to hear about the spam.

I've messed around with yahoo messenger and liked it. It's free and easy to setup. You can use webcams if you have one. The microphone thing works pretty cool too. You can talk to the room or just listen to others babble on.
Might be worth checking into.
