I took the family to Carmel yesterday and the only signs allowed are carved or sandblasted dimensional which are suspended by ornate ironwork. I ran my digital camera out of juice with about 50 photos and I would love to do a book someday. These are real attractive signs that I would post if I understood how. Any teachers of HTML who can crash course me via the BB? Ken.

Sargent Meyer... I think you have been hanging out with the Gunny too long, you are starting to sound like him! LOL
Funny Ken that you posted about Carmel signs... I was at Half Moon Bay this weekend and DIDN'T have me camera with me, but wished I had. Half Moon Bay is just up the road a bit from Carmel and seems to have similar restrictions on the new signs. The only signs excluded are of course those Real Estate signs and the ones the Farm Hands make on a scrap of Plywood that say "Pumpkins"... the good ones have an arrow pointing to the field. LOL You know the ones that they make with an El Marko or a can of leftover house paint and a $2.00 10 yr old 3" brush.
Anyway, at least one third of the businesses there are named 'Half Moon Bay Something' and I noticed how creative the local artists were with the logos for the many HMB businesses. The pictorials were beautiful and the carved moons were My Favorite... heh heh heh
Maybe a California Coastal Towns and Cities Sign Book? Sounds like the "research" on that book would be brutal.

Stefenie, great idea about the signs of the coast. I live in a town that will not allow suspended signs so everything but this kind of sign exists and mostly cheap anywhere USA signage. Sadly the city fathers cannot relate to the psychology of proper signs. Carmel gets slammed all the time for "the better than thou attitude" but attitude determines behaviors and they have the quality in their town that other cities would kill for, it is rather obvious as a well done sign attracts, those folks spend money, thus a solid tax base to support the city. Thanks again for the idea. Ken.

I lived in Carmel for almost a year in the gated country club of 17 mile drive. Hope you did that drive, it's worth it. Georgeous area fur sure.( Cal. speak) Eastwood owns the Hogsbreath Inn, if you ever want to boost his income a bit. A buddy of mine had an art gallery there. They do have a strict review board and they aren't in any particular hurry. Meanwhile you are paying up the wazzo for rental space. It has the rich and the transients living there. I did yard maintenance and had trouble cashing customer's checks at their bank, had to call a few from the bank to make sure I wasn't piece of garbage that found the check. Nice folks.
I saw how miserable and unhappy these rich fat cats were, I never though I would feel sorry for someone with two Benz's in their garage. One guy almost killed me. Had me weed wacking a field of "stuff" with an industrial sized Huskyvarna with a saw blade at it's end. Later I swelled up pretty good, barely making it through the night. The hospital told me it was poisen oak.

You can go to www.photopoint.com and put up a free photo album or albums of your pics. My favorite as its fast for visitors to load and you can use ftp to upload if you want to.

Sorry folks, but the power shut down broke my stride and I have run out of time to re-do in a larger size. If you want to view Carmel sign photos click on the above post and copy paste into software that you can manify. Enjoy, Ken.

Right on Ken! I will have to lookup the shipping address. Too often we make signs and ship them somewhere & never get an installed photo. We got the job through doing the same sign but black & yellow for thier office in Phoenix. I will get back to you with location. Thanks alot, Brad
