How many out there have tried using "heat tree lamp" from bodyshop industry, or bought their own ?
I keep hearing people complain about the "time" it takes with heat guns and eracer wheels, but I never hear anything about the "heat tree" for removing vinyl FAST!

One of the sign shops that i had worked at a few years ago had one. They had one with a timer and set it for 5 - 10 minutes at a time. They placed it about 12" or so from the freshly hand lettered door on a vehicle. This helped greatly for the drying time.
I can see a great advantage to for using it to remove vinyl.
A local waste management company had gotten bought out....all the trucks had to be relettered. Fairly large vinyl graphics on the side of the trucks (4'x6') had to be removed.
One person inside of the truck with a tourch heating it up and the other on the outside peeling vinyl. Both sides done in a half hour.

I just wait 'til the summertime here in AZ to remove vinyl... 120 degree air temp and a 190 degree surface temp on a vehicle in the sun.. the vinyl pretty much removes itsself, you can hear it screaming "Ahhhh! I'm melllllllllllting!!!"

Roger I use my regular shop tree-lamps to heat the serfaces of the vehicle. Makes the vinyl removal easier like you say. But my lamps were only about $45 at Home Depot.

Roger, I use a curing lamp (30") not only to get paint to set up, but for that very purpose of removing vinyl also. I once had a large box van with big vinyl on it and they brought it to a body shop with one of those big heat rooms and heated the whole truck and peeled the crap off clean and quickly. I liked that!

I used to have two of them. I used them to help speed up the drying time on BMW's I striped. They work great HOWEVER, one must be very careful, they get very very hot. Does anyone have any idea how expensive a tailight for a 325i is?????? I do

Hey George, oopps !! Yes as you say, care must be taken !
However, I hear these folks talkin bout "propane torches" now that scares me !
I was about 19 maybe 20, workin on a ranch in Nevada, the foreman gave me a tractor, a propane tank on wheels with a torch and said "here kid, burn this big patch a tumbleweed !"
I still have dreams about those giant sized rattlesnakes tryin to strike at that torch.
Now thats what I would call a good use for propane torch !

After you've removed all that vinyl have you tried Roger's Rapid Tac Adhesive Remover? I did and just love it so much better than the other goop spreading stuff I was using. Secret is to "spray" it on and then use a plastic scraper. Then wipe clean. I just removed two boat names approx. 60" by 14" it was the easiest removal I've done because of the adhesive remover. Ohh, I'm small potatoes and use a hair dryer to heat the vinyl -- can't afford to burn through the hull of a boat!!!

Thank you Dawn, Its good to see someone follow the instructions !!
The "other goops" are usually based on a "zylene" formula, with citrus fragrense added. zylene is oil based so, you would have to clean off oil residue after using them.
Rapid Remover is the only formula we know of that is totally citrus based,no water in formula. We have to add a chemical "mask" to get rid of most of that citrus smell !
You wouldn't like it if we let the full citrus smell come out, it would overwelm you.
