Which brand has a good quality metallic double gold vinyl that has a clear coat on it already that can be used outdoors, other than going to Sign Gold or gold leaf?

I had purchased a double gold through Universal years ago and that vinyl was something tremendous ....the sign would fall apart and that gold would stay shiny like new... (am wondering if they had accidentally sent me something better, as it was no higher in price). I sure got spoiled for that product. Can't seem to find anything to measure up. That vinyl I had was a bit thicker to touch (because of the clear coat) but it would cut small letters really well.

Now Universal is Avery, they tell me...SparCal is Avery...(Spar Cal is what I have stocked my shop with)...now anything I get is not fit (sorry) for wrapping paper.

What do you folks use? I'm told to put a clear vinyl over the whole works after, but I'd rather not have to.

Thanks, friends.

Hi Bernice!

If you're looking for a mirror finish(?), you can't beat Gerber/3M Deluxe Gold for outdoor durability.

Thanks, Jon.

Do you carry this product at ND
graphics?

How do I get a sample of this?

I would like to get the chart, also.

Thanks.

Bernice,

You may also want to check with Coburn which I believe is a division of Gerber (correct me on that Jon). Coburn has a lot of the specialty vinyls.

Nope. No relation.

Gerber Coburn is the world leader in ophthalmic lens processing systems.

If you wear prescription eyeglasses, there's a good chance that the lenses were ground using a computerized system from Gerber Coburn.

Bernice,

If you're looking for a high burnish finish, I'd reccomend SignGold's MiraGold.

Inas it is NOT a metallized polyester, it will remain gold indefinately. Metallized polyester's use a ferous based dye, to acheive the "gold" look. Unfortunately, those dyes are not completely UV stable, and will fade away in time. Some last longer than others, but none will last as long as genuine gold.

The same applies for non-burnished finishes, such as flourentine swirls and engine turned.

You'll find SignGold available through most quality Sign Supply Dealers.

Best of luck with your project.

Regards,

Brian Briskie
