Did anyone watch the show on TLC last night called "Rides" about hot rod designer Chip Foose? They showed some shots of the Mother's Mag Polish PT Cruiser with Mike's airbrushed flame job. Nothing like a little national TV exposure to add to the portfolio.

Speaking of 'artists' and tv exposure, you guys may find a friend of mine's current TV work interesting while you're channel surfing.
I mentioned Pat Foster in that other post about Barris/Roth/Dutch. For anyone who was a fan of funnycars or racing in general from the early 60's through the 80's (or the current vintage drag scene) you'll remember him driving cars like the Barry Setzer Vega or Mickey Thompson's Mustang (both floppers), among a slew of other famous racecars.
TLC picked him to be their 'celebrity judge' for the show "Junkyard Wars" on it's drag racing episode. He tells the story a lot better than I ever could, but suffice to say he was up for 48 hours making junk run, so they could pull off the show. It's a sham, but like you didnt see that coming
He's had two pretty cool TV gigs this year already, one being another "Junkyard Wars". This episode will be a two-hour special, where an Indycar team (I cant remember who) vs. a Nascar team (Rusty Wallace/Penske) vs. a NHRA team (Prudhomme's Miller Light TF crew) have to each build a car capable of running all three type racing styles. I have no idea on the air date, as it just wrapped up filming a few months ago.
The other gig is playing now in rotation, and I think aired either during the Daytona 500 or Super Bowl (I didnt watch either, so you'll have to let me know). It's a Dodge commercial where the Hemi powered pickup guy gets dusted off by an old front-engined top fuel dragster. The dragster is in actuality the "Jade Grenade" that Foster restored a couple of years ago, owned now by Don Trasin of Cinncinati, OH. The TV crew sprayed some rubbery concotion over the beautiful candy green paint, and removed most of it's tinwork, leaving it to appear as a shorty style, mostly pipe digger. Foster actually drove and choreographed the scene, but they superimposed the actor's head in post production for the final piece.

I saw that the other night, too cool! Those flames a re a far cry from the new stuff I'm doing now though. those really are a stylized version of my realistic fire that Chip requested I do. I'm working on getting on Monster garage as we speak. I would love to work with those guys on one of their projects. thanks for the kind words guys. Working with Chip was amazing, what a nice guy! I was there when that chevy Master was still in raw metal and I got a chance to check out all of his sketches for future projects. I even have two Foose original sketches of my own! Mike

Pretty easy to recognize Mikes Flames.......they're definatly Kool.......!! But did ya notice they never mentioned his name..??
Also.......I wouldn't hold my breath on doing anything on Monster Garage.....Tom Pruitt ain't about to let anybody even get close to stepping on his ego trip...... He not only does the painting for FREE.......he gives them about a couple grand worth of paint just so he can be on TV......... How do I know this.........one of the simpler ways is, one of my daughters has worked at Damons for the last 6 years.....!!! Still....it's nice work Mike........
