Black Hills Gold Rush III

Event Description: A gold leaf on glass workshop. Participants will be provided with a piece of quarter-inch plate glass approximately 14 inches by 20 inches pre-screened with a black line art image. A variety of techniques will be taught including guilding with water size and oil size, blending colors on glass and marbling. Workshop artists will be provided with paints, various gold leaf related supplies, and some various karats of leaf to try.

The entrants will need to bring one book of loose 23K leaf and their brushes. In addition, there will be project panels provided.

There will be some meals provided along with refreshments. The Black Hills is a very scenic area with Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument only an hour or so away from Spearfish. The historic Old West town of Deadwood is minutes away with limited stakes gambling, lots of good restaurants, and some pretty cool signs to boot...well worth a look!

The nearest airport is in Rapid City 45 miles away served by some major airlines and also has car rentals available.

When: March 2 and 3 (Friday and Saturday) 2001. At this point, we plan to screen our glass pieces the day before the meet (Thursday) and anyone who wants to get in on how that is done is welcome to help.
