I am really struggling to cut some letters out of ThermoBanner (Type1) material. This is really thin stuff, I'm using a 45deg blade on a Roland CAMM-1 with 90g pressure. Any more pressure and I rip through everything. The problem is, I can't weed the stuff. It just stays together.
Anybody out there with any experience at this? I can't reach anyone on the phone at "Specialty Materials".
Thanks,
Steve

I've never heard of ThermoBanner material. What is it?

Glenn,
ThermoBanner is a heat transfer material. It's typical applications (according to the manufacturer) are banners, awnings, umbrellas, tire covers. We are trying to letter a piece of canvas. Either heat pressed or ironed on.

I've used it... It is a bugger to cut and doesn't weed well. Only suggestion is make sure blade is new and slow the cutting speed.

Hi Steve,

I haven't used it either but have used the other "thermo" products. My supplier says to use a 60 degree blade w/ downforce of 115. Hope this helps.

Thanks everybody!
I finally got it by doing the following:
Increased pressure (150g)
New blade
Slowed the speed
Applied mask to the back to keep from tearing.

Thanks for all of the help!
