Has anyone else had something shipped "Priority Mail" and it takes forever instead of the two or three days they claim? I purchased a digital camera that was to be shipped Priority Mail and it has been almost two weeks in transit...

The only priority is for them to get your money Roy...I shipped my panel to Maui and it took 9 days ...their tracking site is a joke (it never did track the package)thw package arrived and I never have been notified.
Hard to believe we are paying for all this!
Good luck on the camera... See you at Fred's?

USPS doesnt guarantee delivery dates on any packages except Express Mail, and they do at least stand by the guarantee on that or they refund the full shipping cost.
At any rate, I ship via USPS all the time (about $150 per month) and aside from packages getting FUBAR'd when shipping to Canada, I haven't had any major delays like that.
I'd suspect a slow shipping department or order processing on the behalf of whoever you bought the camera from, and unless they can show you a confirmation number to prove otherwise (delivery confirmation on Priority shows you the drop-off date) I would go bark at the seller.

I request priority mail from all my vendors. Saves me huge amounts of money compared to UPS Blue. Most of my vendors are shipping out of California, & I get very consistent 3-4 day travel time. (& they are clear up front that I am not in a 2 dat region)
After 9-11 I had one priority mail envelope that was never recieved & 2 that were quite late, but other then that it has been a good service for me. Their tracking may not do much, but I'll bet it can verify if the camera really left when the seller claims.
Monte, I did sign for it, so maybe after another 9 days, they will let you know.

Monte and Doug, I believe the ONLY time they notify you that a package has been delivered if when you send something Certified and pay for a return receipt (as we do when we send payments to the IRS). Other than that example, I believe you check if a Priority package has been delivered if you paid 45¢ for Delivery Confirmation. They also have a more expensive Tracking option in which they are supposed to scan the package as it crosses the country through major check points, but you still have to call or go to their web site to locate it. They do not send you any form of notice of delivery. I sometimes send packages Insured for $100. It is similar to doing Delivery Confirmation, but you can't personally see if it was delivered. If the buyer says they never received the package, the Post Office does have a record of delivery. And of course, you can buy insurance and delivery confirmation, but I never go that route.
There were a few news shows on TV that compared sending a package from one place to another using Priority and First Class. My recollection of the show indicated that First Class got there at the same time as Priority in most cases for less money. It always irks me when a package takes longer than it should, but all in all, the Post Office is still a good deal. When I can send you a letter from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Norman, Oklahoma for 45¢, or a 15 oz. package for $3.85, I'd say that is still a bargain. With Priority mail, they even give you all the tape, labels, and boxes!...making it an even better deal.

The post office is a good deal. Just remember to INSURE what you are sending. I had to return a bad motherboard for my son....well...dumb me...I didn't insure it thinking it was bad anyway. Well they said the motherboard didn't get delivered. So..the motherboard company didn't have to send a new one. How convenient for them.

Tracking a package with USPS is a joke. Their insurance is also a joke. I only use UPS. You can track a package during shipment, confirm delivery and it's automatically insured for $100.00 at no extra charge.

if u make a claim for failed next day usps delivery.... the sender has to get the envelope back. In other words, you have to pay to send the envelope back to the person who paid to send it the first time. then he / she will make a claim that takes a "few" days to process.
sheesh....
