I put together card layouts for a lot of my customers. Usually, I put these on disc and they take it to a printer.

I print my own cards - I have a few that "insist" that I print their cards. What do you charge for card printing? Keep in mind that I'm using stock papers from Office Max using an HP750 on high res. I know I charge more than a regular printer would get, but that does not mean I'm making out on these considering that I have to tear them apart. Recommendations?

I had a lot of what were normally sign customers asking me about business cards so I set up a wholesale account with a printer that I was already friends with. It's months later and I find that he and I do a lot of business with each other these days, to our mutual benefit and to the benefit of our customers.

Jeff,

I order CMYK printed cards on UV gloss heavy stock from www.postcardpress.com for $60 + $9 shipping and sell them for $125 per 1000.

They look great and it's easy money. Obviously I charge extra if I have to spend a lot of time designing.

Just got a set for a customer this week. They are full bleed and look awesome!!

There is a big difference between 4 color process and thermography.
I use a local wholesale only shop for thermography and postcardpress.com for 4 color work. I charge $200.00 for 1,000 4/0 cards with one hour of design included. $260 for 2,000 - most folks can't resist. Reorders are $150.00 for 1,000 $210 for 2,000.

Jeffery,
I also use PostCard Press for full color cards. Just ordered my own business cards (1000) with black print on the back for $72 plus shipping. For regular type business cards I order from Business Cards Tomorrow. I use their Jacksonville,FL location but they have many other locations. I get a large catalog from BCT for my customers to select their cardstock & ink color from. I just upload my files for the cards to their website or you can email them. They also carry self inking rubber stamps, letterheads & envelopes,tel-a-dex cards, and announcements . I just got a postcard from BCT informing me that they now do full color printing...my catalog is in the mail. They have over 90 locations serving the US,Canada, and South America.
Here's a BCT dealer in WI:

A great supplier I've been using is DiscountPrints.net. They do 1,000 full color(4/0) business cards for only(I believe) $44 wholesale and full color on 2 sides(4/4) for only $69!! Even better, they usually arrive only about a week from my emailing the file to them. They have a beautiful satin(more a matte finish than gloss) that looks very classy and has a unique feel to it that people notice when you hand them out. The satin coating also makes them waterproof and very durable(I've even stirred my coffe with one in the midst of a caffiene fit [Smile] )

I'll try to put some photos of recent cards on the portfolio board soon.

Contact Howard Kahng at the email or phone listed on his site at the link below:

I also use Postcardpress.. excellent print quality.. actually, it's outstanding.

here's another tip: have YOUR business info printed in black on the back side of your customers' cards, (a tagline across the bottom) and any time they hand out a card, they're advertising your business as well.

Jeff...
I just found a company called DesignLine, and had them print cards, as well as some promotional "stickers". Unbelievable prices and great quality, and I did it all online.
They're at www.4colorprint.com
Not worth it doing it yourself anymore!!

Karyn you can buy precut magnetics with peel and stick adhesive at staples, probably cut your time in half to make 100 fridge mags.

I have a deal with a printer too...

I just sale a 2 colors today for 250$ cdn / 1000

the print cost me 70$ with the film and all, the balance is design and benefits...

I do for most of my customers and it seems they're more interested in the service than the price. They don't have to look for the printer and all.

captain ken- you can also buy those pre-cut magnets with peel and stick from your local sign supplier. Its usually a bit less expensive than from Staples.
