We rented the movie SIGNS with Mel Gibson last week and was really disappointed, there's no SIGNS in this film, no signpainters, no brush not even a truck lettered! DON'T TRUST THE TITLE!
Have a nice week-end!

I saw the film at the theater, and can add....I'd rather watch the 3 minute movie trailor looped for two hours. Was disappointed. The trailer was way more exciting than the film.

Well Don.....I dunno about you, but ANYthing with Mel Gibson in it is worth renting for me...it could be three hours of Mel Gibson reads the phone book and I'll drool.....it's all in what rocks yer boat...

Even so, you may want to browse "crop circles," which the movie is supposed to be about, and apparently is not. Regardless, either they're real or not, or super-human or not, but in any event there are some nice geometric graphics worth looking at. For those who happen to be looking for a circular format.

Now those crop circles...some of them are pretty complex. Can you imagine the pain it would be to lay that stuff out in such a large scale ? Then can you imagine doing it in a cornfield up to your neck in corn stalks....and in the middle of the night.....all in one night ?? Aint no way.

These occur a lot in the summer in the UK, somefolks have a lot of time on their hands.
There was a story in the UK press a couple of weeks ago regarding a Tour Operator in the US that wanted to organize trips to the UK to see this phenomenon, but he couldn't understand why no one wanted to do it over here during thanksgiving and christmas

Hey, last nite on the news, there was a story about some lights coming from out of the Puget Sound here in Western Washington. They showed the lights. Looked weird. Looked like 2 or 3 rows of spot lites illuminating from the bottom of the sound. As for signs in movies, I like to see the signpainter, sign truck, and sign installation in the Godfather movie. The one where they show Robert DeNiro as the young Vito Correlone.

Hey I don't know about renting this movie and seeing it on a TV screen but I'll tell ya what... I saw it in the theatre and loved it. It scared the HELL out of me (and everyone else in the theatre judging from how high we all jumped out of our seats at the same times). The suspense and fright factor of this movie on the big screen was on a par with Psycho - something that no other movie has done for me.

Hey Pierre... I thought it was kewl that this flick came out in August, right when we were doing the Mars meet. Catherine Foster had never been to a drive-in movie, so we took her to see "Signs" two days after the meet. I fell asleep after 10 minutes, but she watched the whole thing. Just got the DVD & watched it myself...it makes ya think, but I didn't find it too scary. There's no denying Mel is a hottie, but I prefer Joaquin Phoenix. I'm still trembling over him in "Quills". Hey! I just realized that he's done 2 movies with titles that have dual meanings...what's next? "Reducer"? Mebbe I'll see some real crop circles this August when I go to see Catherine! Love ya- JILL

I don't remember the last time I was that dissapointed at a movie that I complained about it for two days! but this movie was a huge let down. I agree with Don, the trailer was WAY more entertaining than the feature itself. PS> there's a sign painter in the movie TOMMY BOY also.

I didn't see signs but Gibson's next flick is really going to make some fur fly. He is doing a movie sympathetic to Jesus Christ. I have to admire his cahonies as this isn't sitting too well with his peers.

Hey Jim, Gibson's next movie will probably not get a lot of takers. I understand that the cast will be speaking in the original Aramaic language of the time. No sub-titles either.
As for Signs, I thought it was a disappointment. An advanced civilization comes to take us over and we can take them out with garden hoses?

Dang it Dave. You ruined it for me, now I can't rent the movie if I know Mel Gibson whooped em with a garden hose. Heck, I gotta a pressure washer !
I heard about the Aramaic thing too but will bet it is one of those occasions when the bean counters step on artistic toes.

If we consider the wacky nimrods in Hollywood his "peers", no wonder it's upsetting them...I guess if you have made so much money you don't have to work again you can make any type of movie you want (I would!!). BUT-If J-Ho did it they'd be falling over themselves to go see it...(as would most of my friends)- she is the new flavor of the month...

Adding to the list of sign painters in movies: I watched the movie "James Dean" on tv last night. They showed a guy hand lettering the back of his Porsche, nice close up view, but not long enough to catch enough details.
