I shipped my panel Saturday at 9:35 which they now confirm...I know that I was there...they say the site is updated every evening...as of this morning 8:20 am the USPS site says quite elequently..."your package was shipped Saturday at 9:35 am.

I was told it would take 3 to 5 days so I'm not concerned about the package yet,I just feel yanked around by this visual pacifier with no nipple.

Then they give you a 1-800 number to call if you have had problems...after 15 minutes of punching in numbers for this then that then the code number ...in all its glory it announces..."your package was shipped saturday at 9:35 sturday "I KNOW THAT I WAS THERE"

I think our government could use their money a liitle more wisley...like with all that wasted space there we could shorten our band at Letterville by displaying pictures on their site...wadaya think?

what a joke!

Hi Monte,
I send a lot of packages by Priority US Mail and pay the additional 45¢ to get Delivery Confirmation. It sounds like you were using that, too. The extra expense gives me a safety blanket against the occasional person who might claim to have never received the package. It is not "when" the package arrived, but "that" the package arrived. It can work a little the other way if a package takes longer than normal to deliver and the customer is calling wanting to make sure I sent the package. I can give them the number and they can see for themselves that I mailed it when I said.

I believe they do have a shipping option that will actually track a package as it crosses the country, but that one is quite a bit more expensive than the confirmation option. We had a couple of packages that I mailed just prior to 9-11 that never arrived, so spending the extra 45¢ has cost me quite a bit since then, but does give me a little more security.

Hope things are going well for you and Pat. Say hi to her for us!

Monte, I use both USPS and UPS online functions. The folks at the Post Office just aren't keeping up with the technology.

Just one example (I have more) - package shipped to a military base. ClickStamp (not USPS) will not generate a label because it cannot verify the on-post address.

So I hand address the package and mail it. A week later it comes back undeliverable. The return labels suggest the package never even got to the base - kicked out by a sorting machine someplace.

I put a UPS label with the exact same address on the package. UPS on line printed the label and delivered the package within their time promise.

Pretty sad when the government cannot deliver mail to itself.

All the USPS people I know are dedicated, hard working people. They are being failed by a management structure that cannot keep pace with the times.

I rarely ever use UPS except when I'm on the receiving end of an order. Everytime I've sent something out UPS it got completely destroyed/crushed and/or was late.

FedEx gets it there, and when they say they will, every time. They've never failed me, they're just a tad pricey (UPS actually isnt far behind).

US Mail. Well.. they don't guarantee anything but it's cheap and is how I send most of my orders out. I've learned to never go cheaper than Priority Mail and to always Insure the package. Funny thing - they'll lose or crush your package anytime EXCEPT when that sucker is insured.

Guess USPS is kinda like Wal Mart.. it's so cheap, you just can't get mad when a shirt only lasts 3 months.
