I just checked out Mark Matyjakowski's portfolio post of B&W logo. It got me to wondering: During the design proccess, do you take a look at your project in gray scale or halftone? If not, give it a try; it will reveal legibility and composition problems you may not notice in color. This may be a moot point to a lot of you, but it is a good tip for those less experienced designers, and a reminder for all of us!
BTW nice design, Mark! That puppy will work in color or B & W

Thanks Bill, Most of my designs start in grayscale .... wish it was some type of master plan but in reality it's because ... my pencil only works in grayscale mode

Mark, I kinda figured that. But your work reminded me of one of the many design steps we all go through, and I thought it would serve to spark some discussion. We've been doin this design thing for so long that at times it's good to call attention to a particular aspect of design and refresh our attitude about it. At times we are not even aware of these processes going onin our heads. And I, for one can get lazy about them. Thanks for the post of your work...it made my head click a sharper this morning!

Great question... I prefer to work in black micropoint pens for doodling. When I do design work on the computer, I work in gryscales to set a design up, if no colors were specified as part of the parameters.
That's what I like to do. Well, back to pondering the whereabouts of Denis Dejordy...
Have a great one!
