I came into the shop early to build a signfoam model for a sign I need to present to the review board next week. It's almost daylight and I'll take the dog for a walk on the beach and call the day's work done.

G'morning Karyn!

I've got my coffee and baileys going, catching up on the bb and some layout work to do.

The kids are still sleeping and I'm still in my housecoat. I love Sunday mornings!

I almost NEVER work on Sundays, unless I screw up a job and am forced to work.

Now if I could do that on Saturdays I'd be doing fine.

Well, I guess you would call it working,
I finally got a chance to start on my panel for the Panel Jam that Terry started.
It is nasty outside here, though not cold it is raining and windy. 44 degrees in Texas,
on the gulf, is not a pretty sight.
I Take my cell phone to the shop when I am there on Sat or sun.
That way I don't have to answer the business phone at all.

I am going to do a bit on my panel too. Then I have to finish two signs with lots of little tiny letters (EWWW) so I can deliver them tomorrow.
I am out of coffee (shucks) so I can't do anything til I get some of that.

I spent Friday finishing up a demo job jackhammering some concrete I poured for my shed last year. Decided to make a 10' x 40' concrete patio where my cottage backs up 10 ft. from the conc. block retaining wall on the uphill property line here on the sloaps of Haleakala.

Most of yesterday was spent with a pick, shovel & a rake when not "spotting" for the bobcat guy. I finally gave in & hired him to finish my excavation after 2 months of intermittant attempts to do it all by hand. After dark I was able to get the second load of rubble out of my truck, & pick up the plumbing supplies needed to replace our water line in time for evening showers.

That kind of works lends itself to turning in early & getting a good rest, so I got up well before the sun for a hottub, stout cup of french roast & a good book. Karyn's reminder of the slow phones & lack of walk-ins has me thinking I'll head down hill to catch up on the work I missed by excercising my owners priviledge & closing Friday. Looks like a bit of a grey day on the horizon anyway. (Yeah, we get 'em too)

Let's see......got up early, finished carving a mirror frame, stained it, laquered it...2nd coat is drying now....it's noon. In about an hour, I'll rub it out and put it together. At two pm, "Ca Ching" ! [Smile]

It's starting to flurry....could use a coat of white on the dirty, roadside snow. Then I'm gonna watch the commercials and a little of "the game" [Wink]

I got here @ 9:00 this morning so I could start spraying a Kandy Violette to Kandy Magenta fade on a custom bike I'm doing the graphics on. Since I usually allow 30 to 45 minutes for each color to dry, I've also been working on my new pet project, my mountain bike workshop. I've moved tools, set up stands. I'm going to go on e-bay in a little while to see what deals I can find on some parts.

I'm considerin' working on some other projects: finishing the flames on one bike, or pinstriping a graphic on a talgate. I just can't get motivated to do them just yet...

If you want to see some pics of what's going on around here, go to my daily update page: http://www.geocities.com/mrtoons/

I usually post something everyday. Ever since I bought my digital camera, I take 10-20 shots a day, not counting the videos of our 'practice' runs on the bikes in the back of the shop...

See ya,

I'm doing a little work myself trying to finish up a 5x12 real estate sign in all reflective. I did a few for one realator and another saw it and loved it. Gotta love the referrals.

Yep...We're workin.

Unloading the trucks from yesterday's bike show. "SKIN AND STEEL" is always the first bike show we set up at, in a looooooooooong season of bike shows.

So, we kicked off the show season with freezing temperatures, snow, slippery loading docks at the Greater Rochester Convention Center, short tempers, marginally edible show-burgers and $5 Pepsis; all on 4 hours of sleep after thrashing all night getting bikes put back together, cleaned, digging out the trailer and eating marginally edible fast-food burgers.

And I musta told 100 people yesterday what a big advantage I have, loving what I do for a living...

Keep on keepin on

Just got home from installing two 5'x4' sandblasted HDU signs on a concrete monument that was really awful! The concrete monument was really screwed up and it made the sign bow out in the middle. Never an easy day doing installs for us. But at least I'll get paid tomorrow!! Once again Cha-ching!! [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

No matter how much I tell Sign Makers that if we price your work properly we can rest on the Sabbath, here we are either working, or thinking about it, or finishing up or preparing for tomorrow.
I just dragged off the Interstate coming home as soon as possible this morning from Asheville, after driving there yesterday from Atlanta. I had been to a Sign Show that was held in Atlanta over Friday and Saturday. I had to leave early to escape the incoming snow and put off a job til today, that the customer just could not wait for til Monday.
Now I’m gathering vinyl letters and graphics, my trusty old Signkit and a ladder to head out to Wake Forest University to letter the indoor windows and doors of the newly remodeled print and copy shop.
I came home to a burst pipe and I have temporarily no water.
So much for the shower I was going to take before heading out into polite company….…… at least nobody will come too close long enough to linger and to ask this weary traveler any really obvious questions, or –God forbid- act like they were catching me misspelling something…….

I know all of you know what I mean
Back to work

Nope, no work here. Weekends are playtime!

I just came home from the beach.. yep, temps near 80 again today, had to take the jetski out. [Smile]

Before I left for the beach this morning though I shot some clear gelcoat into a few fiberglass molds in preparation for some carbon-graphite parts I'll be laying up later on this evening... making some trick looking truck parts. [Smile]

Yesterday I put another 60 pounds of sound deadening material into a Toyota Matrix I'm building for car audio competition.
