I've been calling everywhere trying to find a better price than HomeDepot. Only found one sand company that actually sells blasting sand around here and they were triple HomeDepot.
HD is $3/ 50 lb. bag. I was trying to find it in bulk for like $1-1.50 for between 20-50 grit.
I've called masonry suppliers, industrial suppliers like MSC Grainger, my local sign suppliers, rental places, brick companies like Rinker and nothing!!
Any info. is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I get my sand from a sandblasting co. in the next town over. Try looking for a sandblasting co. in your yellow pages. There may be someone close enough to you that also buys in bulk and can pass some of that savings along to you.
Auto body shops may also have some leads to where they buy their supplies.
Good luck, Joe

if your gona do a lot of sandblasting.....you can use builders grade sand and buy it by the ton....and have it hauled in a dump truck. the only diff between the stuff at home depot and builders sand.....the baged stuff is fairly clean of big rocks and debre and is DRY! builders sand will need to be dryed out, and sieved. also HERTZ RENTAL will rent you a diesel air compressor....165/185 c.f.m. for $50....and you pick it up friday afternoon and return it monday before noon. i did that when i sandblasted the roof of my van. used 250 lbs of sand!!!!!!

There is a mine about 30 miles from here...its run by Feldspar Corp. If you can get a truck that's the cheapest way to go...I'm not sure how far you are from gainesville....have to get out my map. They have several grades and its all dried and bagged...good stuff.........

Try these guys. I've been getting mine from them for a while. I think they have some other locations and maybe one is closer to you. If memory serves, I think 50lb bags were running somewhere around $1.85? Dont hold me to that though. Its been a couple years since I last bought any there.

Thanks for the replies you guys! Guess I need to keep looking.
Wayne, you seem to have all the good deals up there!! John Smith used to get his from Standard Sand & Silica in J-ville but when I called them they told me double what John says he pays???????
I'll keep looking. Looks like it's gonna be a HomeDepot deal this trip.

Yup, I was getting my sand for 2.25 a bag until they recently raised the price. I do have to travel about 30 miles to get it though. My trailer will haul a ton and I put half a ton on the truck. It would probably cost you more than the price of the sand to have it delivered to you.
But, my SignfoamII (from Tampa) is $512 for two sheets with free freight. I'm sure you could get it for the same.

I pay 5.00 per 100 lb. bag here, but I recycle it several times. So that cuts way down on final cost. All our sandblasting is done indoors in a closed area for recycling and rainy day blasting.
