HEY! If anyone gets an Email that says "Windows Upgrade" DELETE IT IMMEDIATLY!...it is a VIRUS ....friend just got nailed with it!

Can you get viruses from opening your mail on a remote site, like Hotmail?

A, yes but it's less likely. If there's an attachment you physically have to open, that has a virus in it, you could get it.. but Hotmail scans most email for known viruses first.

The other buggers that open automatically and make use of security holes in Windows and Outlook/Express won't get ya if yer using Hotmail.

Getting a virus from opening Hotmail may be possible if you open it through Outlook Express, rather than opening it from the Hotmail web site.

I have several email accounts and to keep things simple, I access them all through Outlook Express... even the Hotmail ones.
