We were all shocked and saddened by the passing of our friend and fellow Letterhead Eoin Quigley on Christmas Eve.
Thanks to Eoin's Brother-In-Law, Michael Morton, for sharing this newspaper story that highlights just a few of the things this remarkable man accomplished in his short life.

I can tell you... there is not one thing written there that's not true. He was a pleasure to be with in the short time we got to spend with him at the "Spell with the Wizards" meet in Cork, 1999.
If you're of a mind to, you can see Eoin and some of his work along with a mentioning of him in the story I did on the Cork meet at www.letterhead.com/meets/cork99/index.html or go to "Past meets" in the menue at the left and look for "Cork meet 1999".
Enjoy...we did.
Everyday Pat and I talk about what a shame it is that someone so young and talented is led away...you have to wonder what god has planned for him...Gilding perhaps? We'd like to think so.

Absolutely the finest tribute I have ever heard or read, without a doubt. Never met the guy or even heard his name before Steve mentioned here that he was ill.... and there's a tear fallin down my cheek. I think the tear is sadness that I never met him.

As I submitted my last reply on this thread, I thought about how such a legacy this guy left in such a brief stay here.
So much packed into such a short time span.
I recalled something else written in that tribute. He was described as being "very straight, and not given to sentimentality", and touched upon his wit and humour too. Input on what Eoin may have said to his friends and family about his passing went like this,
quote:Put that sympathy you feel for me today friend to some constructive use - and support the three things I loved and cared for most in life.
One of those things being his trade.
I do derive much inspiration and motivation from Eoin's life attitude and doings. I'm moved to pack more into my time here.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Eoin in person, but I enjoyed phone, snail mail and e-mail correspondences with him. We were honored to have his work grace the pages of SOTT several times.
Cherish every moment, guys and gals. This is the only shot we get.

I'm working on an obituary about Eoin for our March issue. If anyone who knew him would like to contribute any thoughts, tributes or rememberances, please contact me directly.
Thanks again!

I only hope that I can be spoken of in that way when I am gone. To me, there is no greater tribute than these words. I am surely touched.

We know Eoin was very special and it is difficult to imagine we missed meeting him in person. Too young of a person to leave this world. So saddened also that I never met him. There will be much hope following the tear. Truly a loss, and we have gained knowing him through you that share Eoin with us. So wonderful that Eoin's artwork is posted here, as it is an honor and a bond to share together, a legacy of his love for letterhead spirit. I pray that Eoin's loved ones and friends have peace and hope that we may all celebrate together one day. Hopefully, this post can be copied and saved for Eoin's family to refer back to for years to come, along with the link. Again, thank you for connecting this together for us.
