Looking to reproduce a decal for a 1979 dodge 150 Power Wagon pickup for the tail gate. The decal is “DODGE”, its an outline type letter. I don’t know what font it is and even if I did, I probably don’t have it. I’ve looked in some of my Whole sale catalogues but I can’t find it.
I thought about taking some sketch paper and running a lead pencil over the existing decal to create a pattern, then scan, clean up and cut…………..just wondering how other folks have dealt with this seemingly simple problem.
Any ideas on how I might create or acquire this?

From what I can recal the "DODGE" letters are quite simple......a slightly rounded & outlined block font.
I think I'll just go out and trace the font and clean it up.
These are the kind of jobs that either seems to get real expense for the client......or we spend more time then its worth.......right now, I have more time then money, so its worth it.
It will be my third trip out to the body shop.
So when you consider, the travel, the research, the tracing, the scanning, cleaning up, cutting/masking, and delivering....this little 10 inch decal gets pretty expensive.
I tell my clients......you're not paying so much for a product as much as you are for a service.
I'm going to charge 75.00 Canadian, that about 50.00 US........sounds fair?

If you are simply trying to cover the letters on the tailgate...why not use paint? If you are not really proficient with a brush...a rubber brayer (rubber roller) paletted on a smooth surface will put on a nice coat of paint on the raised surfaces!

Seeing as it's a 79 I dont think he'd have any other choice. It's not like Dodge is gonna keep stock on these, and even if you DO find one it will probably be the wrong color.
Oh by the way it Does look like a font that we all use but it's not. It is different just enough.
50 dollars seems a bit low to me but hey if your ok than it's fine.

John, go to this site, there are ten Dodge logos. You should be able to modify one of these, if it isn't there, to suit your needs. Downloads are free.
