I was wondering if there was any one out there that could use some helmets for display purposes. I have a hard time finding good looking helmets that I can paint and have in the shop and in other shops as advertisement. I have a customer that had a $600.00 Simpson speedway shark helmet that got sucked out of the back of his pickup truck and he ran over it with the race car trailer. Needless to say it was destroyed so I asked if I could have it. I filled the halmet with foam and bondo and created a buck for the local promod body builder. He is now building a mold of the helmet. The helmet is a perfect copy of the original with no holes for sight or to put your head in. You can now custom paint it and all you do is paint the area where the shield would be black.

If any one is interested in getting some let me know. I think they are going to cost around 45 or 50 bucks. Im not tring to make any money off of this I just wanted to help any one out that has a hard time finding display helmets. I thought your son could use some George and thats what got me thinking about letting everone know about this. Thanks guys see ya later

Sounds like a good idea Ryan, bolt a shield on it and it should look like the real thing. Send us a pic when you get one done. The only time Greg displays any helmets is at trade shows. He's right in the middle of them right now and it's always a hassle getting helmets for display. He can usuallly use his friends helmets or recently completed ones, but it's always "freakout" time right before a show. A couple of phonies would solve that problem.

Yea George you can bolt a sheild on it but what I did was when I made the buck I molded it as if it had a sheild on it so all you have to do is paint it black or some flip flop color like the high end sheilds. I have made two display helmets like this before. Both were made from old stupid looking lids and were mostly bondo sculptures. I also frenched in peices of conduit to hold my buisness cards. I then painted a wild paint sceme and added edge prints of other jobs I did and clear coated it. After I mount it on a lazy susan from my hardware store its ready to put where ever you need it. If anyone is in the Charlotte Simpson World there is one there.

I would love to see some more of your sons work George. I love his color choices. I wish he had a site. I wish I had time to work on mine. The pictures came from Jeromy Clements race site. Watch this guy next year in Arca. He also races Dirt Late Model and I think he is 17 now!

If your son wants to do a chrome Helmet tell him to give me a call.
