I went to my computer to finish some orders for Christmas and was I surprised. My Gerber GA software has changed to cm instead of inches and the clock says 4:00 AM instead of 10:34 AM. This all happened over night because it was fine at 10:00 PM. I shut the computer down to reset it and that didn't help. Wouldn't you know this would happen on a Saturday. Can anyone help me with this problem? [Confused]

Could be something as simple as replacing the battery.

If it was just the clock I'd say yes Don, I'd be more inclined to think virus.

Cynthia...there is a small battery in your computer that keeps the clock and bios running when there is no power to the computer. lookd like a large watch battery.

you have to open the computer....and on the motherboard(the biggest circuit board in there) you will see a round chrome lookin thing the size of a nickel or dime(depends on age of motherboard) this is the battery, it is there only for use when yout computerr is shut down.
this battery holds the setting for the clock, and the computer BIOS(basic info operating sys)this remembers how the computer is supposed to boot up and keeps that info alive so you dont have to reset the computer everytime you restart it. most of these battewrys can be bought at wallmart now...take the old one out(REMEMBER WHERE THE + 0r - WAS)do the removal of the battery with the computer unpluged.
