How does heat transfer work? Is it the heat, pressure, or what combination of the two. How much heat and how much pressure is required to transfer. Who makes a good imprint press? lchase@bellsouth.net

I bought a 15 x 15" HIX off of Ebay and it works great. Different products require different temps. Pressure is a must. I should have bought a 16 x 20" because of the large transfers that I do and will probably be selling mine soon.
My first orders was for 3 dz t-shirts using the heat transfer vinyl. That order paid for my machine. I've only done a few orders so far but plan on getting it going more. I can do work for you and ship it to you if you want. Normally I charge $18. a shirt to a customer, with stuff on the back. I throw the name on front in if they want it. The more a customer orders-the cheaper it gets.

I had a good used HIX for a while, later I traded it for a digital camera. After I got my EDGE I got another 15" x 15" used for $100. I forget the manufacturer, but it does the job.
I print EDGE print transfers & they require 15 seconds at 375 degrees. 4-color process transfers go for $25 each around here. No match for screen printing on longer runs, but for half dozen, you couldn't even get the films & screens done for $150

Ours is a 16x20 "Mighty Press" made by Stahls. We also have a Mighty Press cap press. They work fine and we have printed hundreds of caps and shirts with them.
