Is there any special prep to gilding plastic Gemini letters. I did a sample piece, but wonder if problems are in the wings without steelwooling the letters or something. The sample came out very smooth. I hate having to rough up the surface, if I don't have to. Bronzeo

Jack, I've done a bunch of these, and there's no need to sweat it. Scuff the letters very lightly with a Scotch-brite pad, then use slow size and gild. If they are threaded stud-mount letters, put the studs in them so you have something to grab when you handle the letters, and that will keep them up off your work surface while your size is drying. The only way you'l have an adhesion problem is if you would get a silicone contamination on your letters - this shows up as a fish-eye problem when you size them.
