thanks ken.....i opened the box, took the roll outa the plastic bag, and the smell of the 851 is not unlike any other vinyl. i cut a small strip with an exacto knife...and i played with it, to view its handling...nice stuff, good adhisive, soft, plyable, conformable and the blue liner on the white vinyl is a nice touch. i wll let you know how it cuts and applies with next need for white....so far i think its a 100% improvment over 651...which i still hold my original opinion on it. but i could get to like the 851........and the 15" roll..measures 15"!!!!

Joe,you will like the way it cuts. Ive used 3m, Avery, Ameribans, and others, and this cuts and weeds as good or better than most I have used. I intend to use it on a regular basis.

You're welcome Joe! I'm sure you will like 851, it's a phenomenal product. 100% splice free.
A neat test is cutting a 3" x 5" or so rectangle of any vinyl film and leaving it unweeded on the liner. After 3-7 days compare how much shrinkage you see between different films. After a month, I still see no shrinkage on 851, but I won't mention the other brands I tested

HI there....I was 'one of those' who didn't like Oracal due to the 651 series too. But I have to say....the 851 is much much better!! Thanks Kenneth, for putting up with those of us who weren't so happy in the beginning. I will use your 851 series. Thanks again.

ken..you still didnt answer the screwy length of the roll problem that i have with 651, all 20" rolls are 19.5......will that be the same on the 851?

OP....I was wondering that also. Those of us who have older Rolands have a hard time with the shorter rolls that Oracal makes.

The 20" rolls are actually manufactured at the European standard of 500mm which converts to 19.685". We list it here at the US 20" standard because it is so close.
And unfortunately, 851 won't be available in 20" only 15, 24, 30, & 48 I'm sorry, don't kill me.
