I really like the stencil but the edges of the mylar, which the pinch wheels ride on, keep getting crushed in transit. The last time it happened I reported the damage to UPS but they just sent it back to the shipper to let them eat it. Real nice huh? Anchor was good enough to send us another roll though. Am I the only one having this problem? We ordered another roll last week and it came in all goofed up on the ends again.
Rough handling by UPS is causing it but that is a given and will never change. The stuff just needs to be packaged "gorilla proof".
Do those wrinkled ends run through your plotter without skewing?

I spoke with a rep at Anchor and he said he would look into the problem. He also said that they have already beefed up the packaging of some of their "larger products".

Wayne when we do blast we use Anchor exclusively because it stays down so well. But we dont use the perforated rolls because our plotter is a friction feed one. We always hand cut our stencil in the past with an exacto knife.
Now we use the router table to cut the stencil if we need to do a blasted sign. I dont miss the hand cutting even though I was fast with a knife.
I would just tell your supplier that you've had problems in the past and to make sure the product is properly packaged.

Hi Bob, My aunt and cousins live close to Zephyrhills and I'm from Dade City.
I have cut a great many of them by hand too and used to lay my patterns down on the stencil (on the sign blank) with spray adhesive and cut away. Now that we're computerized I use a friction feed plotter. The Anchor 153 stencil is made for this as the pinch wheels ride on the exposed mylar edges. It is these egdes which are getting all goofed up and compromising accuracy.
Maybe if I complain enough they will improve their packaging. Yes, a router would be nice. It would certainly solve this problem. Might reveal a few more though.
Thanks

Wayne you are in big trouble if you get near Dade City and don't drop by for a visit. Two more miles south from Dade City right on 301 and you are here...
Back in the day when I owned my first Signmaker 3 I used to cut 3M's green buttercut stencil on it. Did a pretty good job most of the time. Seeya around soon then right?

I also have folks in Lake Pasadena, Lakeland, Tampa, as well as some in Dade City. Thanks for the invite. If possible, I will look you up next time I'm there. Maybe we will get to attend Don Coplen's meet in May.
