Just wondering if there is such a thing as free domain hosting out there?
I know you can sign on to the internet for free now, but what about a place to park your exsisting web site?
I am currently paying $300 per yr now.

i got a web site at www.atfreeweb.com you can go there an get one set up for your self...learn to build a web site..and its free..but not available to search engines....my site is www.asignmint.atfreeweb.com you can choose the way you name your site....but a real domain name will still cost you $35 a year and then you need to pay someone to host the site...if there are free host sites..they dont have full access to search engines so people can find your site by word search i.e. MURALS,WALL PAINTING, TROMP LOI...

I don't mean a FREE web site, I mean domain HOSTING.....I already have a web site: Splashsigns.com, just wondering if there is such a thing as a free parking space?
My daughter said she found something like that but can't remember where she said it was.
I'm thinking there might be a limit to space if there is...which makes me ask how do i know what space my site needs?

www.hypermart.com
free hosting- 20 meg-
they give you a subdomain name
such as http://yourspot.hypermart.net
or for ($35 thru them, or as low as $15 elsewhere) get your own domain name- they'll set it up to point to your free site

only down side is the ads,not too obnoxious, but for $100 a year they give you no ads!

they have shopping carts too...

good customer service
(but they expect YOU to figure out the website construction stuff- there are lots of helpful guides though)

you can put your website up on free servers such as Fortunecity. Most do not allow business sites, a few do. You cannot put your registered domain name up on any free servers and you have to pay for the registering of your name. So the answer is NO if you want to keep http://www.splashsigns.com/ and pay nothing.

Your not gonna find what your looking for for free. Anything close is gonna give you a different web address or make you have some of their advertisements on it.

$300 is too much though. Goto www.icom.com it cost like $8.25 a month

Hey Adrienne, I don't know much about website stuff but I have mine at www.bigstep.com

I think you can put your site on there, but I don't know how much it will cost. I know it will host stuff like blah-blah.com without their name at the back. I don't know if it will help, but check it out.

Good luck!!

300 bucks a year is way too much for a simple site like yours (no shopping or card processing)

I use www.halfpricehosting.com , 99 a year ... usual stuff included ... online chat room tech support (I've been mostly happy with them)
www.interland.com is like 15 a month

I'm NOT recomending either company because I really don't know that much about the server business, but I do know 300 is too much

I should mention I have been with OneMain.com for the past yr. They charge me 100 for the yrs ISP and another 200 for the domain hosting.
Just seeing if there are any options to save me money before I mail the check.
Not unhappy with my service, I'm just a cheapskate.
Thanks for all the info!

A,

Check out liquidweb.com
They have a base program at $15/month which still offers quite a bit more than any of the other services in the price range.

Or, get yourself a DSL or Cable internet connection and host the site on your own computer.

If there is a free host, it aint gonna be worth a crap...

My host is $20/month and I couldnt be happier with the service.
