I am about 3 miles from National Banner. Two fleshly brothers, Abe and Mike Goldfarb founded National Banner and Alexander Plastics.

When I got started in the sign business in the early '70s, I tried to sell Mike a lighted sign. He took me back in his warehouse and showed me the largest stock of Plexiglas in Dallas. He had pity on me, a young struggling sign man, and sold me plastic far cheaper than I could buy it from any supplier.

Thus began a long business relationship. Whenever I needed acrylic, Mike would personally walk me back into his warehouse where we would pick what I needed. I learned much about plastic fabrication from him. When he died suddenly a few years ago, it hit me like a load of bricks, for I had truly lost a friend.
