Hello Everyone,

I seem to be having a problem merging a customer's artwork into my old FlexiSign 5.7v3 program. I can see all the file he wants cut in the preview screen, but only the larger shapes show up when cutting the mask. The smaller stuff doesn't seem to exist except on the preview screen. I had this happen before with this customer's files. Before, I just moved to my FlexiPlus 6.0v4 and everything cut fine. This time, it doesn't show up at all in FlexiPlus, and only part of it in FlexiSign.

Am I over tired and doing something wrong while trying to import this file? Using and paint brush and enamel was so much easier.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Pam,

Sorry Si, I should have mentioned that and forgot.
He sent it as an ai. file from his Mac computer. He always puts the file extention on so my PC will read it. I do have to download files from email onto a disk(floppy)from my old computer and then import it into my other computer that I plot from. I checked to see if maybe I ran out of disk space, but it shows I still have room left on the disk.

I noticed last night when I tried to import into FlexiPlus again that it seemed to load up to 58% and then quit.

Thank you for your reply Si.

Pam,
One thing you might want to try if you havent already is to save the ai (adobie Illustrator) file from your customer as a version 5.5 in Illustator, then merge it into the flexi...(make sure every all the art work in Illustrator is on one layer, and all type is created as outlines, before merging...Hope this helps.

I have had this same problem before, for some reason when converting to PC from MAC it screws up. Have your friend save it again making sure everything is ungrouped and converted to outlines. When he saves it, Adobe will ask him what format. Ask him to save it down to a lower version like AI5 or 5.5

Remember that Flexi sets up the files to plot by color. Check your color bar in the plot manager to see if there is more than one color to plot. All it takes is one percentage point in color difference to create a second color for plotting.

I've found that going all the way back to AI 3.0 helps me merge AI files better.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I have the problem under control now.

I need to upgrade software and learn more about computers.

Thanks again,
Pam
