This morning I made up some personalized tags for the gifts we will be sharing with others at Christmas. The design was done in Photoshop. When I went to print them out I wanted to gang up a bunch on one sheet of paper, but couldn't figure out how to do it in Photoshop.
I ended up exporting to Corel and then setting up the page there. The printer is a HP 1220C but I couldn't find anything that would allow me to gang the tags together on one page.
Can anyone give me a clue as to how I could have done it in Photoshop. I'm a Photoshop novice and spend most of my time with my nose in the manual trying to figure out what to punch next.

Link all the layers except the background (click in the little box next to the eyeball). Merge the linked layers (layers->merge linked or cntrl+E). Set the "Canvas" size / page size minus like a half inch (image->canvas size) ex.8x10.5 In layers pallet drag the image layer onto the new layer icon to duplicate it ... or marquee select it and copy/paste it. move the duplicate layers to fill the canvas.
one way to do it or
flatten image select all then go to (image->define pattern) then open a new file that is the size of your paper minus the half inch again and (edit->fill) with that pattern

Hi Raymond, Besides the "Copy Merged" command (and paste), you can select the finished element or design, then use the "define pattern" command...I think it is under the Edit menu. Then, select the printable area of your paper using the marquee selection tool, and "fill--with pattern" command. Pick the new pattern you just made from the group of thumbnails. Bingo!
If your original piece was designed in a bunch of layers, you might need to flatten it before defining the pattern (or there might be a command to merge them as it defines the pattern?)Also, when you select your original design element, allow the amount of space you want between each piece when it tiled.

Saving out as a .tif and import into Corel or any other 'Page Layout' program is the fastest and easiest, as you can tell photoshop isn't what you would want to type a newsletter in.

For the Mac users out there... There is a print option that makes your print jobs into a contact sheet, from any program you are printing from. The amount of images is adjustable as well. This is in OS X.

Thanks all. The "language" in Photoshop is still foreign to me and will take some time to get used to.
Bob - I'm glad that I finally got something "right". The printer is really a nice addition. My color renderings are printed out on a matte photo paper and they make a very professional looking presentation. Much better than the old way of doing them with colored pencils and then having the customer want to add one more line of copy of move something over "just a tad".
