I remember Dad talking about our old Firebox that sits in the living room and heats this entire big, old house. This year it's a bit more lonesome. The Firebox's most faithful friend, our old Great Dane, Motley, passed away this past summer. The tree is up and the brightly ribboned and wrapped packages are beginning to pile up under the branches and lights again. This year will see my new husband opening his presents with the family. Latigo actually, finally, DOES have a girlfriend. A real cutie and a wonderful person, and she'll be here too. (I wonder how many boys remained celibate, waiting for the "right girl" until age 22?!?) One leaves, another one comes into the family. It's kinda sad and a bit frightening. I suppose I'm growing up. I'm doing better now and have a whole series of root canals to look forwrd to, but I've gained weight and no siezures for 11 days now. As for Motley, he'll still be warm by his beloved old Firebox. You see, Dad had him cremated and his ashes are on a little shelf...........right next to the Firebox. He didn't go far, did he. I hate growing up.

You know you are putting a lot of light back in us in Letterville, now!!! how wonderful to see you back writing. (Yes, root canals, aren't fun,) and hope you have some comfort for your added loss. There is light at the end of the tunnel, after all you are back! What a pleasant surprise, but, we know you are one tough lady! Pierre and Lynn, you did a great job, but I don't have to tell you that.

Good to hear you're getting better. Someday you'll look back on all this and know it made you a little stronger. Like they say, "what don't kill us makes us better".

Hi Rosemary. I too am glad to see you posting again. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. Sorry about Motley. Our cocker spaniel Astro is very old and I am certain this will be his last Christmas. Animals are such a special part of the family.

Thanks for taking the time to update us Rosemary!! Sorry to hear about Motley but that is a nice final resting place, surrounded by people he loved. They say you can't take it with you, but I'm glad that doesn't apply to memories!!
I'm glad to hear of your improvement & also about Lat's new girlfriend!! I hope he continues to post here & waiting until he's 22?? Maybe he just knew what he wanted from the start & was willing to wait until he found it!! Congratulations Latigo!!
Tell everyone in Lost Praire that we're thinking about them & hope that the good news in the year to come offsets the bad news of last year!! Happy Holidays!!

Rosemary, I never thought I'd ever become an adult. The thing of growing up was not fondly welcomed by me either after seventeen. Exchanging childhood experiences for memories and responsibilities. There are some fun parts of growing that involve producing rather than consuming. The child produces excitement that feeds the adults, the adults feed the kids the goods to make the excitement. Take time to make moments that turn the adults into kids for a moment. Isn't it cool to watch Pierre become as a little child? A moment without pain or fear. Go for it kid!

Glad to see you're doing better and that you're back. I've thought of you often over the past few months.
I am sorry about the loss of Motley. I was just thinking the other day that next week will be 2 years since I adopted Rocky and I wouldn't give him up for the world. Bill claims he'd give him up for a million dollars, but I think he's lying.

Folks, I'm going to print this out for her. And I'm not going to post about her again until I have something solid and positive. Another siezure yesterday and now they've discovered that her sinus wall and upper plate are cracked from the first siezure and fall on the concrete. She'll love reading all of this, and I thank you on behalf of the St.Maries for your wonderful posts. These things really do make her feel better. We'll have her back home again this morning.
