I remember my first encounters with a Mac about 9 years ago. I was in an AutoCAD class and the lab we were in happened to have all Mac systems to run the software. It was Release 12, the last AutoCAD version made for Mac.
At this point in school I'd already had several semesters of AutoCAD training, plus experience training others how to use it.
One day after the professor finished the lecture/lesson, we went to work at our workstations to do that day's project. I finished it up early already being very familiar with AutoCAD so I started exploring what else was on that machine having never worked with a Mac before.
Well.. Imagine a college lab full of students, the only sounds being the profuse clicking of mouse buttons.. when all of a sudden a wild EEEP! comes jumpin' outta that machine!
A bell or gong I can understand, but what the hell is an EEP! ? It wasnt long before I found that sound file on my workstation and just starting clicking on it like crazy.. I became an EEP! addict.. EEP! EEP! EEP! EEP! The whole class broke up in laughter, it was just the funniest sound, that is until the professor asked me to leave early that day then they all laughed at me.
Anyway, I've been checking out the latest apple computers and it brought back memories of the Wild EEP. I guess curiosity killed the cat cause I actually ran a search for "Wild EEP" and learned Apple no longer uses that sound in their OS! BOO!
Of course, I did find this website that's dedicated to bringing the Wild EEP back:

What's funny about this is I switched from PC to Mac ( Os X) , and knew that OS X did not have the wild eep, and the chimes that the traditional Mac os had.... Until.... I'm working in Classic mode and all of a sudden the eep noise hits me... it's not completely gone... LOL.

Well, the Wild EEP is now living well in my laptop, I found a website with a WAV file I can use on my Windows machine. I'm sure EEPY will need some time to adjust to his new surroundings but I think he'll do OK.
The same website also has an *.aiff version of the wild eep, is that the Mac format for sound?
