Hiya People,
I have a Tradesmen 14" band saw that is in need of a replacement blade that measures 70"
I've searched the net with no luck as of yet.
Any suggestions on where to look?
We've tried the local warehouse stores with no luck. My next alternative is to try the local craft/woodworking stores, but I'd prefer something less painful considering it's the holiday shopping season.
Thanks in advance,
Checkers

If there is a saw supply in your area, they can build you blades to your exact specs. There are several in the Dallas area that have band saw blade stock on large rolls and will cut off and weld the length, blade width, tooth spacing, etc. to my specifications. If I order 6 blades, I usually get a price break.

You might also check out any local grinding companies. My mom was a bookkeeper at a grinding (tool sharpening) place and they made band saw blades to your specs too.

I have to buy 21' 7" bandsaw blades for my 5' throat bandsaw. They make them for me at a local business that makes sanding belts and sells abrasive supplies. They're only about $15 each.

Brian,

Check this link to Olson Saw Blade Co.

http://www.olsonsaw.com/downloads.html

Download their catalog. In it you'll find what you need. Your blade size of 70.2" is the same as my ShopCraft. I know that's a tough size to find so when you find them, buy a couple.

You might want to get a bandsaw blade repair kit. But its kinda tough to fix the narrower blades; but works well on wider ones. Also, you'll see coil stock in the Olson catalog. The blade kit works well for making your own; but I didn't see one in the catalog, so you'll have to get it elsewhere. Usually woodworking suppliers have them.
