Well I finally decided to try the Auction, Bid on mega collection from signwharehouse.com, for $100, goto look today, man I'm outbid, that's fine I'll place a higher bid, it all goes to letterville right...
Well I look at who bid against me and its asigns, is this the same a signs that's trying to sell the same product at auction for $159?? If so this really ****es me off!!
Now if this is someone else, then I apologize to that asigns person, but if this is someone that doesn't even need the product and is trying to get the price closer to theirs so they can get a bid, well **** on it, you can have it, I'd rather buy full price from signwharehouse.com than pay 159 for yours!

Shawn, forget paying "full price" from Signwarehouse. Just go to Ebay and get it for about $120. Their Ebay seller name is "signwarehouse". They sell the same items all the time in their Ebay Store. If you search the completed auctions you'll see their reserve price on that Vector Art package is reached at approximately $120.00

I do apologise both to Steve and Shawn for making a bid on the Vector Art Mega Collection. It won't happen again. I suppose that I felt it was placed on a couple of days after our auction was placed for the same item. Could you please remove my bid.
Steve you mentioned in your email to me that you are concerned about products being placed for Auction with a minimum bid far greater than people are willing to pay. This practise prevents bidders from playing the "auction game." All of the auctions that we have placed on auction have a starting price that is well below the recommended retail price or our already discounted price.
Below is a some of the our recent auctions and there starting prices.
iLogos Trademarks Collection $59 (A Signs normally price $159) SignType Fonts CD $40 (A Signs normally price $69) SignTools cutting software for CorelDraw $159 (A Signs normally price $225) The rrp for this product in the US is $249 with a minimum price of $179 10 Roland Blades $65 (A Signs normally price $150) Vector Art Mega Collection $159 (A Signs normally price $249) We actually pay $169 plus shipping for this item and if you consider that it might sell for $159 and pay the 10% auction fee we would get $143.10. That is well below cost.
I don't believe we are using the Letterheads auction as advertising as many of the items sell for less than cost. In saying that if you think we are misleading letterheads members or not offering products at a discount, let me know and I will not place any further auctions in the future.
Yours sincerely Andrew

Andrew, I have viewed your prices on a few items and feel they are reasonably discounted. On the other hand, bidding on an item that you have in an auction , is highly unethical (at least in the US) and I believe illegal in many of our states. Likewise for any agents. I would think this would be true anywhere.

You make some interesting observations Andrew. I'm not even going to pretend for one minute to understand the World of Retail/Wholesale business. I suspect the high value of the US Dollar and volume buying has much to do with pricing.
Our first concern in Letterville is the website users. When it's all said and done, all we really have is our integrity. We're very careful to avoid anything that might cause us to lose that trust. In this case, we know there was nothing sinister going on, but I'm sure you can understand the frustration of a user celebrating his winning bid only to discover he has been outbid by a Letterville Merchant.
The good news is that people are getting some great bargains at the Auction. I'm sure GBC loses their shirts on many items, but they benefit in the goodwill and advertising it generates.
We're disappointed at the lack of participation by our regular users on the Auction. Our original vision was an Auction chock full of unused shop equipment, project panels, shop t-shirts, goodies left over from live meets and other interesting stuff. So why hasn't it happened? Any suggestions? We're all ears.

I would like to say that I'm glad it was resolved, also.
Since I saw this post, I went to ebay and saw Asigns Mega Collection at a "Buy It Now" for $159. Being that I was looking at it on the Roland site for something like $250, I jumped at the opportunity and bought.
Looking forward to having what looks to be a fine ready-to-go clipart collection.
