Hi, Rick...
I suggest you buy a Graphtec. You'll be glad you did.

I bought a Vinyl Express Ultra "T" T= tangetibal sp? It allows you to use a greater variety of materials. I got it from Sign wharehouse, mine is a 24". I have a Roland Camm1 also I had a graphtec. I tell you mine works great I'm extremely satisfied, also the customer service is awesome aswell thats great when you have questions regarding different pressures for different materials. Also the price is reasonable. Beleive me I did my homework like I'm sure you will, they are great. Very silent I mean real quiet and theyre made with quality material.
Good luck!

Hi Rick:

Before I plug my product [Smile] , I want to be sure we're talking about the right thing. Are you looking for a larger printer/cutter, akin to your NovaJet and ColorCAMM?

Or a vinyl cutter, as an adjunct to your printers?

If it's a printer/cutter you have in mind, I'd encourage you to take a look at our Summa DC3, a 36-inch ColorCAMMlike product that's at a considerably higher level in terms of print speed and lower cost consumables. But which retains the sublime simplicity of an outdoor durable resin printer with contour cutting built-in. More info on it is at dc3.summadirect.com

If it's a vinyl cutter (>24") you're considering, I'd like to suggest our SummaSign Pro. It's available in 30 or 53 inch models, and through the end of this month can be upgraded to Genuine Tangential Cutting at no additional cost. Our Tangetial cutting head -- not to be confused with T emulation, or tangential mode drag-knife cutting -- is normally a $799 up charge. For more information on this, please visit www.summadirect.com/getreal

Thanks much,

I'm with Ivan - check with SignWarehouse. They are Letterville merchants and great supporters of this site as well!

Can't beat the prices and they've always been great to me... and I'm sure I have tested the patience of their tech support to the max! [Roll Eyes]

Yes... that was me posting about needing help with my plotter. I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with one of their techs (Ron) who went way beyond the call of duty to help me narrow it down to my computer itself. I'm waiting on a call back from my brother-in-law who I got the computer from. (Let's see if his 'tech support' is as good... [Wink] )

Wow Jim, that is a good deal with the tangential feature added free. Makes me take a second look since I have been very happy with my D610 for 8 years.

Big question. Can I contour cut my Edge prints with high reliability with the Summa or Graphtec?
I have a Hs-15 plus that I use with the Edge now and am wondering if I could sell it and upgrade to a larger machine such as yours.

Anagraph

This is NOT a proprietary product. You dont have to buy some strange cable at a high price. It uses Standard RS-232C Serial Interface cable.

I like it. It's the only kind cutter ive owned.
http://anagraph.com

Talking about a 24" cutter..

Its got a huge buffer. The computer geeeks know how important this is.
Cutting of Vinyl film, Rubylith, Reflective
Films, Sandblast Stencil, Heat Transfer, Film & Flock, Drawing on Paper

Pinch rollers can be placed anywhere you wish. This allows you to use any size material up to 24"'s. Cutting scraps is a breeze.

Fast, This is almost moot because you can only cut as fast as the vinyl will allow.

Tracks really well.

Easy to get blades at a low price.

Will cut a full 23" on a 24" roll. This is important. Some cutters say they are 24" cutters but only means they will accept 24" material. But not cut only to 20"'s or so. Very bad..

Easy to load. Some take two men and a boy to get the material fed.

Very quiet. This is really nice when its running. My Anagraph is so quiet that i can run it in my office, talk on the phone and have a stereo on low all at the same time. Some cutters are so noisy you don't want them near you when they operate.

The feed motors are Closed-Loop Digital Servo not 'stepper motors' very quiet and smooth operation with the power to pull material. Down pressure is up to 400 grams. Plenty of power to cut mask too.

High cutting quality. Highest cut quality down to 1/8” or 3 mm letter size.
Fastest cutting speed, with normal cutting speed of up to 45 ips or 1,143 mmps.
High reliability.
Compatibility with a number of different software

I've had a Roland and a Signwarehouse branded machine. I currently have an Ioline 30" and a Gerber Envision 375 15". If I had to buy a new 30" or larger machine tomorrow I'd be choosing between Graphtec, Summa and Gerber products.
I only wish the Ioline was faster.

There is only one plotter- Graphtec. With everything else it is like comparing a Mack truck with a VW beetle. [Wink]

Curt, Brian, & Bob,
Thanks for your views, the problem I see is that there is more than one manufacturer that makes a machine that would work well for my needs. But I think Im leaning tward the Graphic, I have one now thats served me well and the new ones got all the bells and whistles I need.
Thanks a lot for your input. Its great to have a source of people who have used the equipment and respond with opinions.
Thanks
Rick
