Wayne, Thanks for the site!!!!! My son (12y/o) just got an acoustic guitar for his Birthday. I would also like to learn to play. I am sure we will BOTH get something from that site.
Thanks Again

Somewhere I have a shot of someone gold-leafing a guitar at Rick Glawson's Conclave last February...I'll try and find it.

Timi plays some kickass blues slide guitar. Maybe with any luck he'll teach me a thing or two one of these days.
Another head who can make a guitar sing is Paul Bathe. Hey Paul...if you read this board, sure would like to see ya make it next May....and bring yer guitar! Maybe we can get ya to sit in with Wooly Bully.

I've started playing mine again after letting them sit in a corner and collect dust for about four years. Seems after my Dad passed away I just lost interest. It only takes a few minutes now for the fingers to get sore.
I have a Cortez six string (a pretty guitar with solid spruce top and a nice sound) and a Yamaha 12 string (love the ring of a 12 string). Was starting to learn 5 string banjo a little too and want to get back into that again.

I have an GRANADA electric steel guitar ( or as it is widely known as a Hawaiin guitar). I haven't played in years, I think my finger picks don't even fit my fingers any more. My kids are showing an interest in playing.

I have a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Classic (1960 reissue) I'm wanting to sell. It's a VERY early production model of the first year run, Gibson Historic said it should'nt have even gotten out of the factory with a number like that. It's solid gold (not just a gold-top) and in mint condition (I've played it maybe 2 hours in 12 years, I'm a Fender man with a Peter Green/Duane Allman fetish at times)
I was/am going to put it on Ebay, starting at around $1300 (new it was 2-3 times that). So if you're in the market for the finest of Les Paul models (within mere mortal reason!), I'd rather see a 'head get it than anyone.
I'm planning on using the money to buy a USA made Fender Jazzmaster, so if you know of one - vintage or reissue (must be 1999-2003 model and NO sunburst!) gimme a shout.
Also on the hunt for a reasonable priced Fender tube reverb unit...

Very cool axes everyone. My Martin is a newer acoustic model actually made of Formica. It's really different ( feels just like a counter top.. lol) but looks great, and has a nice rich sound. Great guitar. I also have an old natural electric Fender Bronco. Sounds aweful, but it's a nice collector.

I'd love to own a Les Paul Rob, but when and if I ever have the money to buy one, it has to be a cherry starburst.
In 1970, I bought a used 1968 Fender Telecaster. Still have it today. In the late 80's Fender came out with a special model they called the Strat Ultra. Seen it in a guitar mag ad and it ended up finding a home here. We also own a nice Martin I have to constantly steal back from my son Adam.
Speaking of Adam. When it became evident he was serious about music, he saved his money. When the time came to go shopping, he actually invited good old Dad to go along. We came home with a gorgeous Paul Reed Smith with the swamp finish and a Marshall stack. Best 5 grand he ever spent!

I bought my 10 year old a 3/4 size Jay Turser as a starter, mlast month. That has me pulling out my 1980 Yamaha F-310 and some books. Practice for both of us. Damn, my fingers hurt. I'm going to light gauge strings next time.

Steve, dont you know LP's only come in gold?
One of the best guitarists very few people have ever heard, is Mark Pollock , he was a fixture around Dallas, TX for years (played with Freddie King mostly), most notably in a band called "Cold Blue Steel". They only had two albums, but if you like texas blues (ala SRV and The Fab T-birds) you've died and gone to heaven with CBS. (www.coldbluesteel.com)
Mark is now the owner of Charlie's Guitar Shop in Dallas, and organizer of the worlds biggest guitar show. Charlie Wirz died in 1984 I believe, his death inspired SRV to do his greatest work ever in my opinion (the song "Life Without You" on the Soul To Soul album). If you check out the Charlie's Guitars website, you'll notice Mark shares my feelings on guitars...
There are 3 kinds of guitars (and amps), Fenders, Fenders and Fenders.
Another guitar I've always wanted in case anyone has a lead on one, is a sunburst Fender Montara accoustic. This was a off-shore import, but a very nice feeling and sounding instrument.
Gibson's are too fragile for me, but a Fender, you can fight your way out of a bar with and it still sound good!

I've been trying to remember this artist's name since this post and I finally did. This guy's stuff is incredible. Just spectacular glass art...also incredibly expensive. :-)
