Don Coplen and I have decided to hold a Letterhead meet here in Southwest, Florida... Thanks to John Smith, who, unfortunately had to bail out of Spring Fling 2003.
We need a name!
The dates for this Letterhead meet are May 2nd-4th.
Here are some details to ponder:
We will have a FULL MOON in the sky throughout the meet. (I would love a theme based around this, the FULL MOON is awesome)
Fort Myers is the City of Palms.
Fort Myers is the winter home of Edison/Ford.
Florida is the Sunshine State.
We are on the Gulf Coast.
Many tourist come here for the winter. (some tourists are referred to as frog heads and blue heads)(I don't know where the term frog heads came from, something a rock radio station campained years ago)
We have cypress swamps/sloughs.
Gators, armidillos, possoms, racoons and other road kill.
The meet will end near Cinco de Mayo.
We have the Everglades and Indian reservations. (just south of here)
We have the Gulf of Mexico, Intercoastal waterway and Caloosahatchee River.
Sailing. We love sailing...our sail club is referred to as the 'River-Rats', we're ornery and we love to have fun during a FULL MOON! Arrrrrrg...
Rednecks, good 'ol boys and a Cowboy. We tailgate at the shop on friday nights, family and friends. No cussin', gamblin' or spittin'...
Beautiful sunsets.
Palm trees.
Manatees.
Bridges.
Islands.
Mangroves.
Oyster beds.
Home of the newly wed and nearly dead.
Some we've came across:
Gator Bait (something or other) Co-Co Nuts (something or other) WishIwasFishin' River Rats (somthing or other) Sail the FULL MOON Nekkid (hehe) Sunshine, Bikini's (something or other) La Luna Mayo(the May moon) Luna Loco (crazy moon)
Whatta ya got?
Cher.

my suggestion is to stay away from the full moon reference -- you might want to do the event again some time and you might not be able to always coordinate the dates to the lunar calendar. (unless the focus of the event is the moon, which i'm guessing it aint).
Name ideas: Coral Jam Cape Crusaders

LMBO @ George P.!!! Cheryl, anything that entails "sandy bottoms" is fine with me!! We should be somewhat settled down by then and all we gotta do is cut across the Glades and hang a right... right ?? Try to get them boys from SignCraft to host the oyster roast !!!!!
Yeah, I am kinda down about not being to host a meet this year. Hopefully, next year I can do something. I have a lot of stuff sorted out for storage, shipping, and junk tossed. What in the world am I going to do with my Great Grannie's 1930 Home Comfort stove ???? (( storage, I think!))
Hope to see you guys then !!

Somehow I like the way Coral Jam tells where it takes place and what it is....and then some! (I still have some coral as a reminder of my snorkeling days near the coral reefs in the Fla Keys; we just about lived under water in the Keys! Or, "Coral Jam", sounds like something we would have for breakfast in the mornings of the meets, (orange and mango marmalade?)

Keep the great ideas coming in...we have 5 months till the meet, so there's plenty of time not to rush a name.....but
Donna just about has me convinced of what would be a great name! lol (I think where ya get that vision is from the Harvest Moon meets...those panels almost always have had a little backside skin in the designs.)

Luna Loca and Coral Jam are two great ones.
How about Signs of the Southern Cross, MoonDogs(why do I keep thinking Coyote Signs here? haha), One of these days, Alice... (LOL), Hip to the Eclipse.
There is an eclipse to occur somewhere around May 16th, 2003.
Maybe a sun and moon combo for this event. This can represent two different phases, Kind of a new beginning or entering of a new phase symbolic of change. Even old dogs learn new tricks at a Letterhead meet.
Sunshine state, Eclipse & spring/summer can state an honest case for the sun inclusion even as a secondary element.
The moon is a very beautiful and magical creature but without the sun's light...
