Windows XP has a feature called "emulation". It MIGHT allow you to run your sign program in the Windows 98 mode. Unfortunately, one of the problems with upgrading to a new operating system is that some older programs, drivers, etc. will not run properly.

Another thing to try is calling tech support, or is Flexi one of those programs that are no longer supported by techies? (Serious question [Smile] )

Finally, you CAN revert back to Windows 98 if you feel comfortable doing so. I had installed Win 2000 on my laptop about 18 months ago but then discovered that it would screw up a particular printer driver I had to use so I reformatted and did some some other stuff that had to be done, like removing partitions and changing file systems. Basically I searched the Windows website and printed out the instructions and did it.

Thats all I can think of .

Try changing the date on your system clock to year 2001. I know it sounds corny but I have the same problem for some reason with the new Adobe Illustrator. Changing the year fixed it immediately....just remember to switch it back to the current year after using your Flexi.

Like I said it's an oddball fix, but hey, if it works and gets you back up its worth a shot.

Aaron,
I run Vinyl Express Master, which is basicly the same as Flexi(It even shows up as Flexisign-Pro). When I went to XP back in Feb. I had the same problem and soon found the easiest way to fix it was to upgrade to the current version. It was a $200.00 upgrade but even though I am retired now I didn't want to sell my plotter and I didn't want to use it as a "paper weight" either.
The main problem I have with doing this is that it is like learning a new program all over again, and not using it everyday, the learning curve is even steeper.
I really liked my older version, I knew how do do everything I wanted to do, now I have to hunt and search just to do one little thing that used to be effortless.
Hope this helps!!!!
Troy

dont know where you got your computer....if you had it built you could have told them to install your copy of 98. if you bought it at electronic store(cc, best buy, office depot, staples,)they can do a wipe on the hard drive and install win98 without voiding your warrenty. i just reforatted a h/d for a guy yesterday...was XP HOME version. he wanted to go back to 98SE.....had no problems with it.

Now you know why I've been asking all the questions about the 4b-unlink board......I
hope to have an 'old goat' computer and plotter
sitting in the corner so when my new, expensive,
fast, etc., system goes down....again....I'll
just plot along.

i just might go back to 98...i have the complete disk from my last computer...but shucks i spent a ton of time getting everything loaded and up and running..it was a real pain ALL of my drivers for printer, scanner, dsl, flash card reader and my adobe type mgr. had to be updated the only thing that ran just from the get-go was my 8 year old ioline classic 24 plotter.
I am getting my old computer fixed with a new hard drive and then will have one for just sign jobs and the other for online that way i will never ever again go down because of a virus.....each has rewriteable cd-rom for saving and transfering outside work....but I feel i still need to get totaly up to speed on my flexi 6.5 even though i know my 5.8 like the back of my hand and like it much better.
I only really got the 6.5 when it came out so i could import and export differnt types of files much better....something 5.8 was not good at
one thing i love about the new computer its a 1.7ghz and with the new dsl software that i just got.....ITS SMOKING FAST ON THE INTERNET!

REMOVABLE HARD DRIVES..... in the new 1.7 machine!!!!!! leave all your stuff on the one with xp..buy a new 60-80 gig h/d($69-129) install win98SE on it.....then load at your leisure....with removable h/d's you can shut the computer down, pull out the XP h/d, stick in the 98h/d turn on the computer it has an auto bios and will fine the changed h/d and boot up with no problem(i just built a guy a 1.7 XP AMD chip, IWILL XP333 motherboard....DDR FAST RAM) and i know it has an auto bios...
