I was goofing on the keyboard this AM, and decided to type in my hometown and state into the Google search engine. I have done this a few times over the years, but this time I had accidently chosen the photo search. 2 pages of out of the blue photos, of people and locations that I remember from years ago came up, a few friends and old family photos, winners of dog shows, maps, etc. I came from a town of only about 300 population, so all the photos were very close to me. I then typed in some other surrounding town names and came up with a lot of other people and places that I remember. Now go have fun with it while I tell another story............

This one is about my small town, which is really no place special and just kind of a wide spot in the road...The interesting part, is that from my family home I could hit a golf ball with a nine iron and easily reach all of these guys houses. Gary, Kim, Joey (which were from one family) Jack and Vance (from another family) Roger Mairs, Clyde Tolson.... The first five all grew up to be, and still are leading figures in todays underworld in Miami, Chicago, and Kansas City, and the last two you might recognize by name Roger, a high ranking retired office of the LA Police force, and Clyde Tolson, who replaced J. Edgar Hoover as head of the FBI. (also his life mate and dressup partner) All these guys in the same city block in little town in the sticks. I know all personally, except for Clyde. I always thought this was amazing, and just wanted to share it.

That is interesting.
After I went to the map I went to see where Joplin is and noticed Pierce City. Haven't thought of that in 20 years or more. Remember my dad telling me he was born there and went back to see his father who abandoned him very early.
Kind of a mini coinkydink.

David, actually my home town (that I was speaking of) is Laredo, in north central Missouri. I didn't name it because I didn't think it was really relevant, which I'm pretty sure its really not. Joplin, where I have lived half my life, has a rather large metro area and a lot of history of its own. Mickey Mantle, all three of the Boyer brothers from the Yankees, Bob Cummings, Dennis Weaver, Eddie Peck, and Hale Irwin from just 10 miles away, "the bachelor" Aaron Buerge whos dad is a good friend. Jessie James and the Younger gang from the outskirts, Bonnie and Clyde"s famous shootout where 2 lawmen were killed. Really a lot of history for less than 50,00 population. Pierce City, is only about 45 minutes from us, and is a very unique smaller town hosting some interesting antique shops, a large car collection, a pair of artists and musicians.
