[Eek!] I don't care if it's digital or paint (looks like combo. to me) I don't think they make enough money for me to swing my asz that high on that shape all day

bless the ones who do ... they can have it

I just read an article about that job. In the end, the company that designed, printed and installed it said that they would likely be training their end users to do the installations in the future. Neat stuff indeed.

That's pretty awesome. For those of you who have never been on a water tower, it's windy up there. I wouldn't even want to think about handling sheets of vinyl that are flappin' in the breeze.

Those letters coming down the stem look like a challenge too.

Adding another thought...how in the world would you get the panels to wrap around a compound shape like that? What program could do that?

I think the story I read about that job was in Digital Graphics magazine

I've been loking for the pic and can't find it...argh...nearly thirty years ago the city of Northglenn Colorado wanted to have their tank (just like this one)painted to look like a huge tree with giant leaves...complete with apples and a painted bark trunk...they wanted to know ahead of time how it would look...but instead of doing a sketch we had the tank diminsions and had a wood worker turn a scale model of the tank and I painted it to look like the real thing...they paid us for the model but seized up when the got the cost for doing the actual tank.

Dang I wish I could find that pic..I've wondered from time to time where the model ended up.
