I have this job to do (36" x 90"light up sign on White acrylic)which requires translucent vinyl and a blockout vinyl which is Blue. Part of the sign will be an edge print. The lettering will be a translucent grey color and the whole background is a dark Blue color, and the client wants it(the Blue) opaque. 2 mil is somewhat opaque but will not block out the light well. Any suggestions on how to proceed? I could use GripFlex and paint the Blue until it's true opaque. Never tried it, but don't like the hazzards that come with painting. Or maybe I could put a full piece of Grey Translucent and cut the letters out of the Blue vinyl and place over the Grey. Maybe the Grey under the Blue cast film will darken it enough and make the Blue background opaque. I'm open for ideas..
Thank you Gary.

The way I read your post, opaque means no light passing through the object at night. If that is so, back it up with black. It will be blue in the daytime, and dark, or opaque at night.
Hope that helps.

Gary.....Like Steve said, back blue up with black. That's how you'd do it with Gripflex, I guess it would work with vinyl too, but I've only sprayed.....

Can you use an aluminum sheet with "push-through" (for lack of a better word) acrylic letters?

No aluminum for the job. I think I'll do some testing with Black 2 mil as the block out. I just remembered too that Avery has a Block out White item #A5851-S. This can be applied under my Blue which will make it a 100 block out at night.

Thanks for the help!
