I know many of you northerner's will get a kick out of this post. But, it's actually "nippy" here in Florida today! And the forecast shows it staying cool. In the 67 degrees here right now, sunny ... and just right!
Did my mileage in the park in record time this morning, and barely broke a sweat.
I made a pot of chili last night, which is a tradition of mine when the weather gets "chili".
Are my neighboring Floridians liking this as much as I am?
And the rest of you ... how're things in your corner of the world?

My kind of weather, janette! 68F here now...was a little airish early this morning. I've seen it get down to 10F (-12C) here in N. Florida. Maybe soon it will kill some of these mosquitos.

73º here at 9:30am. I have a long sleeved shirt on and nice warm socks. Yes, after 6 months of unbearable (over 100º) weather, it's nice to finally be able to breathe again. This is pretty much perfect for me.

Sorry Nettie but I have to disagree with you. I for one, detest winter in Florida. I'm not comfortable bundled up in flannel shirts and sweaters and these god awful socks and denim jeans. It affects my golf swing and my snakes are freezing their butts off too. Not to mention the wind chill factor while riding my motorcycle...
The next three months are going to be the hardest. When I get rich from the sign business, Im going to retire to some place nice and warm!
But I'm happy that you're happy

Come on down to Palm Springs, CA! It's as warm as you could possibly get. Better yet, come on down before you retire...I haven't seen a decent sign in the year and a half that we've lived here.
While I'm on the subject...if anyone is looking for someplace to open a sign biz...I spent 8 days on Grand Cayman Island in the BWI and the signs there are just awful. Someone really needs to move down there and do some nice stuff.

We've got about 8 inches of snow here, just fell in the last couple of days. It isn't extremely cold yet (+20F), so it is really pretty. My son is thrilled, he went ski-dooing yesterday, he's been praying for snow for a month.

It's sunny and a nice warm 48F. I am going out to put some siding on my new porch. In a couple of days they predict snow/rain showers. Ernie is going hunting for deer- bow season ends on Sunday, gun season opens on Monday.

Oh yea, loving it. But its already warming up to fast.
70 right now. It was awesome last night but didn't get as cold as they thought (53). Supposed to be cooler the next couple days. Another front coming through.
I LOVE COLD WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You'd never know I'm a native Floridian. My AC is never above 70 in the summer. I hate heat!!

If you think FLA is nice right now, you should come to my part of AZ. The temps are right around 80 degrees, and that's the temp in the shade. Stand out in the sun and it feels about 90-95 still.
I can't believe the past two years I actually went back to St Louis for the whole winter and missed out on this beautiful weather!!
Nettie, I can understand the cravings for chilis and soups this time of year. Although it's still warm here right now, having lived in St Louis most of my life those cravings are now just part of who I am. In September I started craving apple pies, carmel apples and candied apples cause that's when the apples came in on my dad's trees. It didn't help that my dad would actually call me to tell me "Hey I'm makin an apple pie tonight, you should hop on a plane right now and come over." LOL.
Anyway, the funny part about winter in AZ is going to the grocery store at Christmas time, where everyone is walking around in shorts and t-shirts, and holiday music is playing over loudspeakers in the parking lot. And in this town in particular (Lake Havasu) we actually have Christmas Tree lots but they run out of trees to sell every year cause of course, we dont have evergreens down here on the desert floor.

I'm actually feeling the "holidays" in the air today, and looking forward to them this year.
Mike, beautiful pictures! You are right about cravings too. I had the leftover chili for lunch today. (even better today) Now I am craving soups too. I get the urge to cook more in general when the weather's cooler. Anyone else get cravings with each season?
Pierre Tardiff sent me some photos of his part of the world right now. He says these were taken on November 1st! These photos and some of the temps you folks have been relaying really give a clue to the differing perspectives of "chilly" eh? Quebec with snow!... and more snow!

Hi Janette, well here we are in the land of the crazy weather patterns, 2 weeks ago on a Saturday we Played Our Club Final at the Golf Club, Which Our Team Won, by the way, ahem ahem... well anyway it was Sunny and warm, at least to our standards. It was around 50-55 degrees F. And No Wind at all, a perfect day for Golf. The very next Morning, Sunday I was shovelling 6 inches of snow from the driveway, and it was freezing, and stayed cold up until this week. Today it is 65 degrees, and it's been this way all week, so I'm hoping to play another round of Golf this Sat. Not unless it snows. So you gotta love Newfoundland.. it's truly Gods Country.

We love the change of season! They have their own beauty and change. Living in Fla for 15 years and off and on visiting for 30, I prefer the change of seasons. Christmas just isn't the same for me unless there is the snow and the color of the lights, music of the season. There is a certain aura of excitement in the air too. I love snow sports along with the crystal white snow (that is, unless the dogsled gang stopped for a break, lol); in the autumn, the panoramic fall leaf colors, the smell of fireplaces burning the different types of firewoods; in March, birth of springtime with the purple lilacs, yellow and purple crocuses, multi-colored tulips, with the fat robins hustling around for those wiggly worms! Along with Mr. Groundhog I especially the bunnies and squirrels racing around the yard. Summer is great too, and just enough heat to swim and go barefoot, hanging out in a hammock, boat, or tent. Since we are right on edge of Wisconsin, there is a lot to do if you want. The winters up here are Canadian cold, but we just bundle up a little more! Good excuse for cuddling with the loved ones! I do enjoy Florida too, being a wonderful state to vacation! It has a lot of beauty, but there too, getting so crowded, and I hated to see what was happening with the Everglades and the growth. But all in all, there is a lot of good memories and friends still there.

Definately loving this cooler weather. I'm the type that wants the house to be cold enough that I have to sleep under a pile quilts in the summer.

I guess grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Problem here is that we only see grass for 4 months of the year! I'd swap locations with any willing volunteer. I could live with a minimum of 65 degrees year round. Anything higher is a bonus.

well bein that i lived between janet and don....i to relish this cool weather...but up here in the panhandle, it get more then nippy. was 44 last nite, and today had all he windows and doors wide open, closed em about 10 mins a goa and got the heater goin. nice thing up here is you get to see the seasons..with out any of that white stuff, snow tires & chains, or the slop afterward when it all starts to melt...i dont like cold but the worst thing i hate IS MUD!!!!!its like your whole world turns into a big pile of poop, and everywhere you step....your in it!!!! hahahahahaha

Heavy rains woke me up, so I'm siting here readin' the BB. The power of suggestion took over last night and I made some chili..."been thinking about doing some Chistmas windows...so I must be getting into a cold weather groove. They say Sunday it will drop into the thirties.For all you northerners that means everyone around here will be worrying about water pipes again...alot of exposed plumbing in Fla., so most folks have to remember to leave the water dripping to prevent freeze-ups. Luckily, only average around here 2 or 3 weeks worth of THAT kind of cold.
Got to say Janette, that I dont enjoy the cold that much any more. I usually have to work in it. On the subject of weather, don't you just love the way it can change so fast? One day it can be warm, the next day freezing. One minute sunshine, the next minute rain. They say if you don't like the weather in Fla., just wait 30 minutes...it will probably change!!

I don't enjoy hot or cold. That is not saying I don't like life, but enjoy living where it gets dow to the fifties and up to the seventies and seldom violates those boundaries. What you Florida folk are enjoying is what I want in the summer!

Here in the bottom end of Idaho it's running between the mid to high teens at night into the high 40's during the day.
Finding a warm place to coat out stuff without having a heated work shop can be a little bit of an adventure at home. So far the kitchen is off limits and my 17 mo. old has had made a few attempts at finger painting the cats (cats not happy about it, mom is not happy about the fingers LOL).
If anyone has some spare warm weather just send it as an attachment.

I remember when I was really young, we lived in an apartment that was attached to the front of an old factory. In the front, near the street was a small porch. It had no heat. That was where my dad worked when he first started his biz. Gets pretty nippy in NJ in the winter. I can remember him being out there lettering signs and he had gloves on with the fingertips cut off so his hands wouldn't get numb. If he had a truck to letter, he'd have to take it someplace like his brother's house and use his garage. Drank a lot of coffee in those days.
Eventually, the factory closed and he bought the whole building and built himself a 50' x 50' studio in the back. Even still, it had 14' ceilings so it was pretty hard to heat.

Seattle is stormy today. Gusty, rainy and 'wintery'. I think it is a good day to stay in with the woodstove going...But tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and in the 50's.
Kimberly, your story reminds me of how I used to paint. My first shop was upstairs. You roasted in the summer...froze in the winter. Those were before computer days...and I painted with gloves most of the time. Now when I have to do windows when it is really cold.....I keep my truck going with the heat on to warm up my hands.

Hey Rick, ya oughta look into the Cayman Islands. I'm taking a trip there this winter and looked into the weather. Their temps are between 80 and 90 year round, low temps are between 70 and 80.
