I will be starting my ANNUAL "Christmas Window" Lettering projects from 11/14 thru 12/14 Realizing that the buying of Signs are a low priority this time of year, always seems to be a low in our business. I have been cultivating a clientale of customers here in the Bible Belt for the last 15 years that has been pulling me through the end of the year every year. This amount of work, pays my bills and allows for the remainder to be spent on a well deserved vaction yearly. If you have not tried this type of seasonal "window splash" promotions for retail business' you might want to give it a try! In my area of the country, putting CHRIST back into Christmas if very popular and self rewarding. I will be "on the road" and away from the BB for this time period and will miss any Helpful Hints I can supply.
Until then Remember:I give discount prices to put on "BAH HUMBUG"

I am sure you are thankful to have the opportunity and the warmer climate to make this dream come true for many business owners and friends. This happens to be the time of year that many of us give too much focus on materialism and seem to get "wrapped up" in things that don't last. Have a wonderful trip and may the good Lord Bless you and keep you! And may you be rewarded spiritually.

Sounds like a great way to get some travel time in. If you don't mind I have a couple of questions.
How do you figure your pricing on seasonal window splashes? And a real basic question. What type of paints and brushes would you recomend for this type of work?
I've had a couple of prospective customers ask about pricing and I didn't have an answer that I could give off the top of my head, or a formula to throw one together. The sign writers guide figures to about $3/ square foot for promotional window signs.

I used to do window splashes when I first started many years ago. It was fun work and the money was good too!
It put me through high school and college and the first few years Janis & I were married it gave us a great Christmas bonus as well. Peter, our son was only a year old when he started painting windows with us... some great stories there to be told !
Now it seems that I just don't have time for it any more although I still have all my window sample books on my bookshelf. They are a great reminder of the great time we had together as it was always a family event at Christmas to paint windows together.
Have fun on your sojourn!

Dan...I would LOVE to see some of your Christmas Windows!!! Bet those are some fun designs!
I'm headed for California (Nov 24th) to paint my regular clients...I'm grateful for thier loyalty, even though I no longer live in CA they are willing to wait for me and even pay a bit more than usual....
I only hope my foot holds up long enough to get them all done.
Jim and I are driving down so, Joey..have coffee on! A:)

Hey Deb, I'm still kickin' just been more of a lurker lately.
Something Pat mentioned made me sad....I get very few opportunities to paint anything to do with the real Christmas anymore...I get comments like 'Make sure there isn't anything 'Religious' in your window designs'
Or, we wouldn't want to 'offend' anyone with something religious on our windows'
I find that offensive, but I guess offending Christians is politicly correct now-adays.
