I am interested in learning of products and procedures that will give a smooth-as-glass finish on signfoam prior to guilding.I have heard West Systems epoxy and Durafinish(TC resin) are good to use,but I have been unsuccessful with them.I use a high build primer and two coats of one-shot.I am not having a problem with flat surface letters, only dimensional letters. The main problem I am having is "sagging"along the sides of the letters. If anyone has experience with either of these products,or any others I am not familiar with, any information would be helpful.

Did you use a high build primer first?

Maybe if you explained your process a little better, we might be better able to help.

You guys aren't gonn`a believe this!
I know what all of you are going to say...
It goes against all principle.

Have you ever painted a waterborn primer on foam. It sucks it up like a sponge. It also takes about four coats till the small holes go away.

So, what do I use?
Go to the auto store, and get the gray Lacquer primer in a can. Covers quick. Dries in five minutes. Sandable in ten. Sweet!

Smoothe as glass!

Good Luck
