French Kiss A Brush in Quebec city is scheduled on Aug. 22-23-24 2003. Unfortunately the International Letterheads in the United States has been set for the same week-end (...). I know it's gonna be a tough decision for most of you guys, and it's still early to plan, but I need a preliminary list of who's interested in attending.
My Letterheads will be a small one (below 100 peoples) as it will be held in my shop (Depending of the amount of request we'll see...).
I have confirmation of Dennis Gerathy, Todd Hanson, Russ Mowry, Doug Downey, Pete Payne and Jack Blanchard for project leaders (still trying to convice Bob Parsons & Nick Barber to come).
I've planned a golf tournament, dance and a guided tour of the old Quebec city. The fee is not yet determined but will be around the same as the other meet. If you plan to come I need your name, phone number and e-mail adress.
Here's a cartoon Bob Parson's did to promote this meet.
Have Fun, Life Is So Good!! (this is from my pal John Hodgins) Pierre
As you see in the E-mail i sent you few weeks ago, I will be glad to attempt my fist meet in your place, surely with my wife...but I will need an estimate of the cost ( to plan my trip, maybe I would stay in Québec longer than one week-end...)
I've had my sights on this one since Bob Parsons told me about it over a year ago. We talked abit about it again a few months ago when he was here for a visit. No firm answers for you yet on if we'll make it, but we are definately considering this one! Please email me some info on costs. Dave and I would like to make a little vacation of it too, so any info in that regard would be appreciated.
I'll keep nudging Parsons for a commitment too!

Just to give you an idea... the fee for the meet will be between $150-200 in canadian dollars including all meals and the guided tour of old Quebec city. Hotels are between $129 and $189 in august and motels are around $80. There's also a few motels around here that you can rent at $25 for two hours including xxx movies and mirror on ceiling!!! Quebec city is located 155 miles from Montreal (Qc) and approx 500 miles from New York city.

It's a real shame next year's International has picked the same weekend as Pierre for their meet. Pierre has been planning his meet for ages. Many Letterheads, including ourselves, have been committed to the Quebec City meet since before last Summer's Mars meet.
We hate to miss any meet, let alone an International. There has to be a better way to schedule meets so we are not forced to make choices like this.

Please let me know how ND GRAPHICS might be able to assist you in making your meet a success. We might even plan a RoadShow to coincide with your event -- unless you think that might detract from the activities you have planned.
The LIVING SKY Letterheads "mini meet" that was held in conjunction with our SK RoadShow was a great opportunity to introduce more people in the sign trade to the Letterheads movement.

I think what we need to do is get the American Letterheads a copy of our calendar. I to went through this when Butch Anton decided to host the Fargo meet the same weekend as my Signs of Shakespeare! I can see it if there was no way of telling everyone but both Pierre and I have advertised it for months before the international one was even announced! Ca la vie! or whatever! We will seee eveyone in Quebec! We need to have anither hockey game to kick some US butt again!!!
As promised at the meeting in Mars, and having read the posting of your meet way back in early May, I am e-mailing you to get the details plus the costs as soon as possible.
I am surprised that after so much notice the International Letterheads 2003 in the the U.S. has been slotted into the same weekend as Quebec. Even though the two meets are in different countries my feeling is that similar to when the Mars meet was organised and then later two more meets were conducted the weekend before and after, this must have a detrimental effect on the attendance on all of these meets when a choice has to be made.
What is happening to Letterheads? is it becoming competitive between countries? Even worldwide golf competitions and football organisations respect known dates of home and international venues.
Pierre please book me in for next Augst and send me the necessary paper work for Letterheads Canada 2003.
Regards John

Looking forward to seeing the Beautiful St. Lawrence again. I have some of the best memories of my father fishing on the Great River of Canada. Love those Muskies and Northerns!
Your hard work is already payin' dividends Pierre. This looks like it is becoming an official, unofficial International Meet anyway.
Keep your heads up and sticks down, eh!

Though I will not likely be at either meet on that weekend next year because of previous obligations, it is my feeling that Pierre should swallow hard and accept the "International" status since his meet was announced first.
When we hosted in '97 in Belvidere it only became the "International" by default since nobody had accepted hosting responsibilities for that year. It had been planned to be a small meet. (Yeah, right) The word got out (Mark Oatis and Kent Smith started the rumor from what I understand) that the Belvidere meet was going to be the "unofficial"/official "International" that weekend since nobody had spoken up. So I changed it and said "OK - we'll be the International meet".
So even though Tomahawk, WI is close to me here, I feel they should let Pierre decide if he wants the responsibility of hosting the International that weekend he picked. If not, then it is up to them to work it out - or accept the consequences. The consequences being that somebody is going to get caught short with not enough attendance. Do we really want that to happen? I don't believe so.
I would like to see somebody step up and change their dates. It is still 9 months away - and lots can change between now and then. As long as the formal announcement of a meet is made 6 months prior, it's still possible to pull it together - or move the date.
I don't know how far the folks in Tomahawk have gone with their plans yet - but if Pierre was out with the news first, other hosts should oblige by changing dates. It (International) was only decided a few weeks ago in Mars, right? Wouldn't it be better to go to both anyway??

I would also really love to attend both meets but I think I remember Pierre saying previously he could only take 70 people & in this post he says less than a 100 so why should this be the International Meet when only 100 or less can attend? I agree it is unfortunate that both dates are the same but when Tomahawk was decided in Aug maybe this was the best date for them! I'm sure Pierre he will probably have to turn people away, it sounds like a good one!
I would like to agree with Jay, well said mate, I would love to be able to attend two meets close together, one in the States and one in Canada, as you realise I have to travel a long way, but with the two meets one the same week-end this is impossible and I am already committed by promise to Pierre's meet.
As the two meets are in different countries why not TWO internationals with say a week or so between..... this seems reasonable thinking to an antipodean.

No way! French Kiss A Brush is not gonna be an International, I'm still a newcomer in the letterheads movement and I have'nt reach that level yet. I really want to keep it small because all the seminars, the workshops, the panel jam and the brush action will be held in my shop which is big enough (3000 square feet)to accommodate 100 peoples. I already booked my favorite restaurant for a famous POUTINE degustation. You will be tasting also the finest and the best sausages in the world! As you can see by the pictures posted, Québec city is the most historical and one of the most beautiful city in north America. The peoples who visited Québec city says is like traveling in Europe without crossing the ocean. Stay tuned on the BB because starting soon I will post every weeks a few words in french and their translation in english so you will know a few of the local language when you'll be in Québec!!!
Have fun!

Just checkin' in again... as you know, Pierre, Catherine Foster will be coming to your meet too. Is it too late for the Internetional hosts to reconsider their choice of dates? If they had it the week before, it would be much nicer because the people who are already attending Pierre's meet could do both meets while they were in the general area. Pierre has already gone to a lot of trouble planning this, and it would be most unfair to thrust the International upon him. Having hosted Mars (by the way, I never hoid a woid about next year's while there)I can assure any potential host that it is a HUGE HONKING CHORE. Worth it, but exhausting. It is still early enough in the planning stage that an adjustment can be made on the date, isn't it? LOVE JILL ps Pierre, watch out for vegetarians like OP while planning the sausage dinner...LOL
