I'm trying to design some interesting "choose your own thing family schields". Specifically, they would need to include carved or molded components of something about that family or person, and in my families case an artist's pallate and a medical cadusis. My intention is to create an upbeat nameplate for a home for indoor or outdoor use which would depict their lifestyle or profession or both. The sizes that I will need to work with are from 4 inches to no more that 12 inches and will be glued to HDU to create a carved appearance. When finished they will resemble a crest of info. I have seen many components like what I am speaking of, but just don't remember where. I plan to do all of the rest of the custom carving, but really can't keep these things affordable without buying some of the components premade. I am finding nice scrolled wood accents at Lowes and Home depot.

Jack, if you are looking for ideas on where to find ready made "stuff" to incorporate into larger work, one thought would be a good trophy shop. They have all kinds of descriptive objects that are mixed and matched into finished awards. Vic G
