Is there a way to create a 'makeshift' printable colour chart for the PMS colour chart in CorelDraw. I realize that it won't be accurate because colours vary from printer to printer. Don't laugh at me but I'm still working with version 7 because it does everything I need it to so far.

What kind of printer are you using? I have a .cdr pms color chart if you want to try it. I printed mine about 40"x65" on my Roland. Let me know

Mario...I'd love a copy of yer PMS chart if you don't mind sending it. I have Corel 11 so any version will be OK.
I do have a real PMS color selector "book" and of course Corel has all of the PMS palettes, but it would be useful to have a printable chart to compare "real" PMS colors with "printed" ones.
Thanks in advance Mario

I'll send it to you. You can always copy and paste whichever pms color you want then print.

I hate to cast a shadow here, but the probability of accuracy on those pms colours will not be high. It will come close on many, but will veer severely off on many also. Most colour printers will just not nail it.
If accuracy is pertainant for what you plan on doing with that chart, I would highly recommend investing in the real thing. Yep ... it's a pretty painful proposition. hahahaaa.
Many years ago, I invested in a pms formula guide fan book, a process (cymk) colour fan book and a pms colour specifier library. I bought them from an art store that was going out of business... and still spend a fortune, ... to the tune of 300 bux! It has been worth every penny.
I keep them protected from light in a drawer, and get plenty of use from them. Since I do a lot of work with ad agencies, and printers ... they have served me well.
I also have an old pms fan book out in the shop for helping me mix paint. That one's pretty beat up, but still does it's job.
(For christmas, ask for gift certificates to art stores!)

I agree with you Janette. Like Dave said it's nice to compare what your printer puts out compared to the pms chips. This particular chart was made up for Roland's printers and the end result on my printer is very close to the intended pms colors.

I realized that my desktop printer will never 'nail' the actual PMS colour but on certain projects I have wasted a lot of ink and paper trying to get close to the actual PMS colour or even a paint company colour chip. It's nice to be able to show the client a reasonably close shade of a desired colour on a layout of his sign rather than apologise for a sometimes 'way-off' appearing colour even though it may be the correct specified colour.
With the chart that Mario was gracious enough to send me I should be able to select close to the correct colour from the print-out from my printer and use that correct-appearing colour on my layout whether or not it is the actual PMS colour.
I have gone through 3 printers in 6 years and everyone of them printed a different shade of the same designated colour. I made a chart for the standard CorelDraw 7 colours a few years ago and the variation in shades between printers is flabbergasting. And of course the colour on the 'puter screen is different again. Maybe there is a way of calibrating everything but that may be a bit over my head.

Marty, Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the file. I would love to put it on our CorelDraw Downloads page on our website A Signs CorelDraw Downloads Page

I don't know if it would be appropriate for me to pass along the chart. I'll let Mario have the privilege if he so desires. I just want to publicly thank him again for sharing that chart with me that helped me properly colour a layout.

Fergie, that sounds like a very nice thing to have if you feel like sharing it with more of us. My thought after reading the posts would be to take your layout...and adjust the colors...notate them according to the printer I am using and then when I do a layout I can adjust them to reflect as close to the actual as I have recorded.
I would appreciate a copy as well if it is available and thanks in advance!
Me dummy need all the help I can muster!!!!!

In the back of my Corel 9 book are color charts based on CMY. I re-did those charts so that I could print them out on each printer and then match my PMS color to one of the squares, depending on what printer I am using. Each square will tell me what precentage is c, m, and y. I don't know if this would help more or not.

Unfortunately I can't take the credit for the chart. And I can't give proper credit for it either because I cannot remember where I got it. The only thing I did was make it work in Corel.
