Kristi If it was a regular customer then I wouldn't charge they don't take up much room and it is a friendly jesture -though any more I would have to reconsider .Make the customer aware that they leave them at their own risk. I know its a pain but it does generate good will Terry

I am preparing to send this customer off to our collection company, so I am going to be adding storage for her original signs that she brought with her when she placed her original order.
If she comes in to pay before I send her of to collections then I won't charge her. The storage price is going to be included in the letter that I am drafting to her.

You might want to check with a lawyer to see what you can charge. I have had this problem before, and I have charged 10% the unpaid (delinquent) balance after 30 days. Example: (2) 4'x8' @$320 & (2) 1'x8' @$80 = $800, less $400 (deposit received) = $400 balance + 10% storage fee = $440.

our shop charges $10.00 per week x 4 weeks is 40.00 a month! which is the same as if they had to rent a storage buliding. we have been to court on this and the judge saw that to be a fair chrage, and ruled in our favor.

$1.00 per day, per square foot of signage for deliquent accounts. I've never had to collect it but it has made quite a few people move faster on paying and picking up signs.

Newspapers have a "cost per column inch". They calculate what it costs to run the business for a year and divide it by the column inches run in the newspaper for that year, thus the cost per column inch to run the business. They multiply that cost by 2 (or 3) to get the column inch rate to be charged to the client/advertiser for the ad they wish to place in the paper. Profit as the end result. Which is the goal of any business, right?
Using that business theroy, figure out what your cost per shop sq. ft. is and multiply that by 3 (3 works better for me ) and there you have it... the shop rate for shop space taken up by his signs.
Call me if you want to discuss this in detail. 530/647-9232
