is anybody using a Visor, Palm or other PDA (mini handhelp computer) for doing estimates and such? it seems like i could enter in all the info, and then carry the little thing around with me and be able to calculate prices more accurately. thought i'd see what others have tried.

Scooter, there was a really good post on this topic a while back, it might be worth a search.
I built a large cost table in Word, partly using cut and paste from on line catalogs, and then cut and pasted that into the Palm PC software, then sync'ed it into the Palm. Turns out to be very handy when working away from the office.

I used a Palm m130 for a little while. It came with Documents To Go, so I had all of my spreadsheets and Word docs with me.
I got rid of it, however, for two reasons. 1. It wasn't quite fast enough. It took some processing time when I was working on a spreadsheet. 2. I got tired of looking at the small screen.
It wasn't bad for awhile, but I decided to purchase a used laptop and just carry that in my bag. It's easier with a laptop, and a little more convenient with a PDA.
Oh, one more thing. The Palm I had was a BEAR trying to see the little screen outside. It definitely was made to use indoors. I mean you can barely see anything unless you have some shade around. And even in the shade, it was very difficult.

I've got the new Palm M 240 or 260 or something. Loaded Docs and Sheets to Go for use at the race track for tire presures, temps and other data. Found that it's way to small for everyday use!
Now if you travel alot, it has a couple of really neat games for on the airplane!!
