What cleaner is best used for removing the glue after removing the vinyl decals off of a newer truck-up. I need somthing that will remove the glue and not the finish. The can i have, worked ok on some stuff and not so good on others. My can is getting low and i will have to buy a new can soon. Any suggestions?
My job tomorrow is replacing decals on sides and back of a ford ranger. Should be fun.....

Am I the only person that just uses paint thinner/mineral spirits? The only adhesive it doesn't work on is from reflective vinyl. And in any stubborn cases, Rapid Remover works great.

Personally..I wouldn't use anything else BUT Rapid Remover!!!
It is the best there is.
And NO..I don't get paid fer endorsing "Roger Stuff"..in fact he doesn't like me much cuz I advocate dry applications whenever possible.
BUT Rapid Remover is the best fer adhesive removal!

I find that any kind of adhesive remover just turns the glue into a big sticky, snotty mess that just smears around! Mineral spirits softens it up then I scrape it off with a squeegee. It doesn't get all sticky, just falls off the squeegee. Try it!

Here's a couple of alternatives that you can use as well. Firstly, I'd have to say that the Rapid Remover is far and away, the best solution. If you can't get any, Rubber Cement thinner will also work quite effectively, and leave no damage to the base paint. Methyl Hydrate will also work, but you will need several applications, since it will turn the glue to a soft, sticky jelly. This you can scrape off with a 'lil chisler or squeegee, and wipe off this onto an old newspaper for disposal. Repeat this a couple of times, and finish up with a wipe-down using Isopropal alcohol. This will give you a clean vehicle on which to apply the new graphics or text.
Hope this helps you out.

I found the paint thinner thing works best for me,never tried rapid remover but I used orange peel, at first I thought it was working great but realized it was taking longer turns the glue to sticky jelly. If I use paint thinner, I wet a paper towel with thinner wipe on pretty wet maybe a time or two then come back with a dry paper towel about 30 seconds later, wipes the glue right off.Remember to wipe with a dry towel this seems to make it work easy.
