I have been approached to apply large format corporate graphics to a side of a 5 ton truck box. This one is approx. 90 in. x 22 ft with a seam and rivets every 2 ft along the length. I have applied large graphics before on smooth surfaces but not over this many rivets ( I have read the wonderful step by step in the archive section and have done smaller rivet jobs ).
What I need to know is how long would you estimate this job to take with 2 people applying.
I thought I had read a similar thread about 6 months ago but I haven't been able to find it yet?
Thanks for all your help

$2.50 may be fair in good conditions but you may want to find out more. Just because they are a large company dont assume everything will be perfect. I did a lot of installs for Texaco and Corporate Express here near Seattle and was shocked at some of the garbage I was to appy - vinyl that had been around for way too long in bad conditions, the transfer tape took longer to get off than to apply the prints. Graphics that were crumpled and ripped.
Find out what type of material (premium, or probably ContolTac - Comply). Where are the installs going to happen? Cold weather will really slow you down. Make sure that everything is ready before you get there and multiple trucks are prepped for you - or charge extra for the prepping. You could waste hours looking and waiting for the right guy to show up with the keys.
And finally - what happens when you mess up? I know it could never happen, but if it did are you going to replace the print?
I dont get invited back anymore because they found some one cheaper, and thats fine with me. I used to charge by the hour (my shop rate) and that included drive time and waiting time.
Not trying to scare you off, it can be good steady work. Just watch for the speed bumps...
